Best PC Build For 4K Gaming in 2023

With new games and hardware releasing all the time, PC gamers need to keep their systems up to the job. With 4K being widely adopted more and more, it can be hard for older PCs to keep up if it wasn’t built with 4K in mind.

If your computer’s performance falls far enough behind, it might just be time to start from scratch. Building your PC can let you get into PC gaming while saving money and getting exactly what you’re looking for.

If you’re interested in building your 4k Gaming PC but aren’t sure which parts to pick, we’ve compiled the best build for your money.

Each part in your system serves a specific purpose in giving you the optimal experience, but some of these parts can get expensive, so it’s important to know where to save and where not to.

For 4K gaming, a powerful graphics card, a power supply strong enough to run it, and an all-around high-end system so that you don’t encounter any performance bottlenecks. Especially if you have a high-refresh-rate 4K monitor.

Every part on our list will be easily able to run anything you want at 4K with high settings, but many of these parts will also not be the top performers in their category. This is because oftentimes, components will feature minor performance improvements or optional extra features that aren’t ultimately worth the price increase.

With that in mind, if you’re looking for great value on a powerful 4K gaming PC build that can easily handle even the most taxing games at 4K, then keep reading!

GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 Eagle OC

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 Eagle OC

Let’s start with the most important component of any gaming-focused build, the graphics card.

When building a gaming rig for 4K gaming, you simply cannot afford to skimp out on your GPU. For that reason, we selected the RTX 4080, one of the absolute best graphics cards available on the market.

Yes, you can get the RTX 4090 for even better performance, but the RTX 4080 offers the best performance per dollar for 4K gaming. It will easily run any game on high settings with ease, even high-taxing games, such as Cyberpunk 2077.

When you compare it to the best performer from the previous generation, the RTX 3090 Ti, it offers better frame rates in the majority of games while being cheaper.

As far as memory, you only get 16GB GDDR6X 256-bit memory compared to 24GB in both the 4090 and 3090 Ti feature, but that’s still more than enough to ensure smooth performance in the most intensive games.

On top of this, this specific model, the GIGABYTE RTX 4080 Eagle OC, has excellent cooling system. It utilizes GIGABYTE’s well-known WindForce cooling system, with three 110mm fans, 10 composite copper heat pipes, and a vapor chamber directly touching the GPU, which does a great job of keeping your GPU cool.

In addition to that, it’s one of the cheapest 4080 cards, and it also comes with a nice overclock from the factory and even features subtle RGB lighting.

Overall, GIGABYTE’s RTX 4080 is our number one recommendation if you’re building a high-end rig around a 4K gaming monitor. Unless you have unlimited budget, there is no reason to spend $500 or even more on an RTX 4090, especially seeing how well the RTX 4080 performs at 4K resolution.

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700KF

Intel Core i7-13700KF

In general, the CPU is more important when building a workstation computer, but you still need a high-end chip if you want to avoid bottlenecks and keep your machine relevant for years to come.

While many ‘experts’ recommend an i9 or a Ryzen 9  for a high-end gaming machine, that would be a waste of money (assuming you’re building purely a gaming PC), in our opinion–The Intel Core i7-13700KF has all the power you need.

It’s one of the best option for high-end gamers, as 16 cores with a max clock of 5.4 GHz is plenty for any level of gaming and will be for many years to come.

For reference, we run an i9-13900K in one of our gaming PCs, and we barely hit 10% of usage in the majority of games, even modern AAA titles on high settings.

In addition, the i7-13700KF is unlocked for overclocking (hence the ‘K’ in its name), so if you do get into a situation where you need more processing power, you have the option to push your processor to the limit.

Also, make sure you go with the 13700KF, not the 13700K, as you’ll be saving another roughly $20 by doing so. This is because the ‘KF’ model doesn’t include an integrated graphics chip, which you don’t need when buying a dedicated GPU.

The only time this could become a problem is if anything happened to your GPU, and you’d be forced to rely solely on your CPU. Which, to be honest, is a very rare occuring these days.

Overall, you may be tempted to go for the i9, but all you really get is bragging rights. If you’re more interested in building a balanced rig for 4K gaming and making a cost-effective purchase, the i7-13700KF is the way to go.

Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi

MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi

If you’re following along, you picked your GPU and CPU, and now it’s time to pick the right motherboard.

Following the theme of this article, we opted for a cost-efficient board with great performance per dollar and high functionality, the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk, with an included WiFi adapter.

This motherboard from MSI features all you’ll need for optimal 4K gaming: PCIe 5.0 slot, DDR5 memory slots, a compatible CPU socket for your i7, and the latest connectivity standards, including WiFi 6E and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet for lightning-fast internet speeds.

The downside of the board is aesthetics, as there is very little visual flare. Many mothebroards offer reflextive details, RGB lighting, and even water-cooled VRM heatinks.

This motherboard forgoes all of that in pursuit of the best performance per dollar. And we absolutely love it.

All in all, the MSI MAG Z790 Gaming Motherboard is an excellent pick for 4K gaming, providing all the features you need and cutting down on extra costs by omitting unnecessary features.

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5

CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5

With the quite recent release of the DDR5 memory, DDR4 is a thing of the past, and if you’re building a high-end gaming machine, DDR5 is the way to go.

This is not only because of the performance boost (more than 100% in some cases), but you’re also getting better performance per dollar with DDR5 memory.

A high-end 32GB DDR4 kit with 5000MHz+ will cost you well over $200 bucks, whereas buying a mid-tier DDR5 kit with a clock speed of 5600MHz (or more) will cost you $30, even $50 less in the majority of cases.

The Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 kit, clocked at 6000MHz, is a prime example of that. Both the amount and speed are well above what we recommend for 4K gaming and will complement your motherboard and CPU nicely.

It also comes at an accessible price point, with around $6 per GB, even less if you can find on on sale.

Again, if you’re following our build, then this RAM will work perfectly with the rest of your build while not increasing the cost in any significant way.

PSU: Corsair RMX RM1000x

Corsair RMX RM1000x

Our recommendation for power supply is the Corsair RMX RM1000x, which is a 1000W, gold-rated, modular power supply which we’ve run in a few of our machines for the past couple of years.

We don’t mean to sound like a broken record here, but this is again a great product for what you’re paying–It’s a quality, efficient, reliable, and fairly affordable 1000W power supply.

It’s worth noting that a power supply is a thing of preference, and if you have good experience with EVGA’s Supernovas or always used Seasonic’s PSUs, those will do a good job as well.

Just make sure the PSU you opt for comes with an EPS12V connector for compatibility with modern graphics cards and motherboards and has at least an 80Plus Gold rating–Feel free to go with a platinum or even titanium rating, but those are usually very pricey.

If you don’t want to think about it, just get RM1000x from Corsair; it will provide all the essentials for a high-end 4K build without costing you a fortune.

CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360

ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360_1

When building a high-end gaming rig, chances are you will want to introduce some sort of liquid cooling, most likely an AIO cooler.

The ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 is another product on this list that we have plenty of experience with. It’s a high-quality, high-performing, and, most importantly, fairly-priced cooler.

We featured this cooler in a number of our articles, including the best 360mm AIO coolers and the best budget AIO coolers. Feel free to check these out.

Cooling your i7 (or even i9 if you decide to go this way) is a piece of cake for this cooler, as it remains among the top-performing 360mm coolers, even if it’s a couple of years old already.

Additionally, it comes in a variety of sizes, starting at 120mm and going all the way to 420mm, giving you the option to pick the size that fits your case.

Plus, it offers the longest warranty out of any AIO cooler on the market, with 6 years, beating the likes of Corsair or Lian Li.

Similar to the PSU, a CPU cooler is usually a thing of preference, so feel free to chose the one that you like aesthetically as well. But, if you don’t want to think about it and looking to buy a top-performing cooler with a low price point, the Freezer II 360 is your best option.

SSD: SAMSUNG 990 PRO

SAMSUNG 990 PRO

When building a high-end 4K rig, you shouldn’t forget to add a high-speed NVMe SSD into the mix.

Our number one recommendation is no other than the Samsung 990 Pro, one of the fastest NVMe drives on the market in 2023.

When it comes to performance, the 990 Pro is the absolute best. It provides read speeds of up to 7,300 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,900 MB/s for lightning-quick file transfers and peak performance while gaming.

What really sets this drive apart from the competition, though, is its outstanding realibility with 1,800,000 MTBF (mean time between failures. Again, that’s one of the best you’ll see in 2023.

Of course, you can go with cheaper SSDs, but if you want the fastest and most reliable drive for your 4K build, the Samsung 990 Pro is the way to go.

Our Rating:   9.9/10

When it comes to gaming PCs, there are those who settle for average and those who demand the best of the best. Sometimes it is just better to build a PC that will last a lifetime of gaming, and by picking out the best quality from the start, you are setting yourself up to never have to buy a new PC again. If you want to shatter the current gaming benchmarks and bring new meaning to the term “high-performance,” then we have just the computer for you.

It’s not difficult to find a computer that is expensive, but it’s harder to find one that is still a good value in the highest price bracket. Furthermore, being on the bleeding edge of technology does not come cheap, so you should be prepared with a large set of pockets. After thorough research and testing, we have ruled the absolute best prebuilt PC for 4k gaming you can currently find on the market: the SkyTech Prism II.

Before this, we had heard of Skytech and knew of its outstanding reputation in the gaming community. For the sake of providing an honest review, we had to try our hardest to dig up some dirt on them and find out how good of a company they really are.

After pouring over their website, YouTube reviews of their other equipment, unboxings, benchmarks, and even the deepest details of their warranty policy, we can say they are a pretty upstanding company.

Additionally, what makes Skytech special is that they hand-build all of their systems according to your specs, budget, and personal design tastes. Besides being made in the USA, they offer decent warranties and financing.

The only downside is that their warranty is only one year. This is even more highlighted when compared to other names in the industry, like Corsair and CyberpowerPC, who offer 2 and 3 years of coverage, respectively.

Back to the Prism II. To start off, you get a top-of-the-line Intel Core i9-12900K processor, fully unlocked for overclocking. As if the 3.2GHz base speed wasn’t enough, this processor can boost up to 5.10GHz when called upon. A CPU like this won’t struggle with 4k gaming, streaming, or whatever processor-heavy task you can throw at it.

Furthermore, the storage and RAM capacity are bit of a mixed bag as, at this price point, you can definitely find more than 1TB of storage.

What’s great is the 32GB of the new DDR5 RAM clocked at 4800MHz–While both the amount and speed are overkill even for 4k gaming, the futureproofing you’re getting with this memory is unmatched–you can expect this to be sufficient for at least 5-7 years, maybe even a decade. If you want to upgrade, the power supply allows you plenty of room to do so with a whopping 1000 watts of power.

Where we were really impressed is the graphics. In terms of graphics, the Skytech Prism II blows away the competition with an RTX 3090 Ti from Nvidia. The performance of this GPU is currently second to none, and with 24GB of high-speed GDDR6X graphics memory, you will easily max out any game you can think of, even on a 4k monitor.

When running your favorite games, make sure you prepare for an explosive experience. The details, lighting effects, and textures provided by this system provide you with the most responsive and immersive gaming experience possible. We were able to back up these claims with some impressive benchmarks.

Looking at games like Far Cry 6 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, we saw average frame rates of almost 80 FPS on ultra settings. And Watch Dogs Legion averaged 60 FPS on maxed-out settings, even on the highest settings with Ray Tracing and DLSS at 4k resolution.

Furthermore, even the most demanding and unstable games out there, like Cyberpunk 2077, managed to run well on the Skytech Prism. Cyberpunk 2077 ran even better than we expected, reaching almost 55 FPS even on the highest possible settings in 4K.

Keep in mind you can always dial the settings back a bit to get your preferred frame rate, this is just to show that this system is capable of handling the most taxing games with the highest possible settings–So if you want the best gaming experience possible, the Skytech Prism is your perfect match.

Additionally, there is a lot of praise for the design of the Skytech Prism II. You get a ton of USB ports, HDMI, and Display-Port 1.4a connectors, as well as multiple RGB cooling fans. Speaking of cooling, you also get a 360mm AIO cooler to keep your i9-12900k nice and cool, even when overclocked.

All is packed into a Neo Qube case from Phanteks, an extremely well-made case with the ability the showcase your entire build–The entire front and side of the case are made of tempered glass, so you can enjoy admiring your gaming PC with its dazzling display of colors.

One thing you should be prepared for is the sheer size of this case. If you were hoping for something compact, the Skytech Prism is not the one for you. Otherwise, if you are hoping to make an impact on your desk or gaming area, this PC will be a display of ultimate domination.

Overall, the Skytech Prism II is the perfect computer if you are looking for the best of the best. You get a quality, stylish, and well-cooled gaming PC with the performance to run the most taxing games comfortably at 4k. If you’ve got the cash, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better.

Cyberpower Gamer Supreme

REASONS TO BUY

  • Outstanding raw processing performance
  • Fantastic 4k performance (both gaming and professional work)
  • Both RAM and storage are overkill
  • Quality build with clean cable management
  • Great warranty policy
  • Striking aesthetics
  • Plenty of RGB
  • Great airflow + liquid cooling

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Premium price
  • Large and heavy
  • You should be getting the RTX 3090 Ti at this price point

Our Rating:   9.8/10

Our next pick is the best all-around recommendation for a high-end 4k gaming PC, heavy rendering, or any other demanding application. This one was a close second to the Skytech Prism II, and a few things made it really unique. So let’s get into it.

You’ve no doubt heard of CyberPowerPC’s machines by now. They have been in the business of making custom gaming PCs for years now, and this latest model from them really shows their capabilities. One of the best parts of this whole build is the stunning case from Hyte, with its sweeping glass panels reminiscent of a glass skyscraper.

This PC will make you feel like you have stepped into a futuristic wonderland. But does it have the specs and performance to back up the grand design? That’s what we’re going to find out.

The first thing we noticed about the Cyberpower Gamer Supreme is the processor. Loaded with a 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU, this system is clearly running the best of the best. Additionally, this processor is fully unlocked if you are looking to squeeze even more power out of it with overclocking. Gaming benchmarks for the Core i9 are top-notch, and this CPU makes an excellent base from which to launch your gaming empire.

In terms of storage, this PC offers one of the best configurations compared to its competitors. You get a gigantic 2TB NVMe SSD for all of your primary applications and an additional 4TB HDD for storing your data files. Not to mention, this case has so much room in it that you can add even more hard drives.

Additionally, CyberpowerPC has included 32GB of DDR5 RAM, which is identical to the Prism II and can be upgraded even further. As we mentioned earlier, 32GB of DDR5 memory is currently overkill for almost every application, but you’ll definitely appreciate the future-proofing.

As far as graphics card, you get the Nvidia RTX 3090–Not quite the top-of-the-line, but certainly one of the best you can currently get. You’ll be able to load up the vast majority of your games on the highest settings at 4K with no problem.

As usual, we put this PC to a test with different benchmarks, and it passed with flying colors. We checked out how some of the most popular games run on this setup, and the results are truly impressive. The first game we looked at was Horizon Zero Dawn. Running on the highest settings and 4K resolution, we were able to see an average of around 90 FPS.

We also looked at games like Death Stranding, which showed well over 100 frames per second on the highest settings. Games like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege were no problem at all, easily pushing well over 90 FPS on ultra settings.

Besides having amazing gaming performance, the Cyberpower Gamer Supreme also has a unique design. We already mentioned how we felt about the sweeping glass panel display that wraps around the front and side of the case, but it is worth bringing up how unique this is. No other gaming PC on the market delivers such a striking impression.

Furthermore, CyberPowerPC offers one of the best warranties out of any other PC maker. With three years of coverage on labor and one year of coverage on parts, you’ll appreciate the extra piece of mind.

All in all, this gaming PC is an excellent fit for enthusiasts looking for a unique PC to pair with their 4k monitor. It’ll run the vast majority of games at 4k without breaking a sweat while offering a quality build, striking aesthetics, and a liquid cooling setup. The only drawback is the premium price tag–but honestly, did you expect this PC to be affordable?

3. Corsair ONE i300

Chassis: Corsair One i300 | CPU: Intel Core i9-12900k Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 | RAM: 32 GB DDR5 @ 4800 MHz | Storage: 2 TB SSD | Power Supply: 750W 80 Plus Platinum | Cooling: Liquid Cooling for both GPU and CPU | Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

Corsair ONE i300

REASONS TO BUY

  • Impeccable build quality
  • Excellent gaming PC for 4k gaming
  • Very compact and lightweight
  • Nearly every component is made by Corsair
  • Platinum-rated PSU
  • Lots of storage and fast DDR5 RAM
  • Fantastic cooling system
  • Stays cool and quiet even under heavier loads

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Configuration with RTX 3090 cards isn’t available
  • Less gaming performance compared to other PCs in the same price range
  • Premium price tag

Our Rating:   9.7/10

With most gaming PCs on the market, it can seem impossible to find something compact and powerful enough for high-end 4k gaming. If you don’t have room for a colossal gaming PC, your choices might be limited.

Finding a desktop with tons of power, upgradeability, and a compact design was more complicated than we thought, but we managed to pull it off. After tirelessly testing and comparing, we finally found the perfect mix of high performance, great cooling, and compact design: the Corsair ONE i300.

Their ONE series of gaming PCs has been solid throughout the years, but the i300 offers the best overall performance we’ve seen so far from Corsair. They have been honing their craft in making custom gaming PCs, and the Corsair ONE i300 is a shining example of Corsair’s prowess.

We’re happy to see that Corsair loaded this PC up with the latest generation Intel Core i9 processor. With a 12th-generation CPU, you know this PC will keep going for a long time. The Intel Core i9-12900K is also fully unlocked, so if you want to overclock your CPU, you have that option. On top of that, it is even a step ahead of AMD at the moment.

In terms of storage, you get a sweet 2TB NVMe SSD, perfect for loading a vast library of your favorite games. Besides that, you also get a ton of RAM as a standard configuration. Additionally, you are able to upgrade the 32GB of DDR4 RAM up to a whopping 64GB very easily. Honestly, we couldn’t ask for more, especially in a PC of this size.

Furthermore, despite its small size, Corsair still managed to squeeze an RTX 3080 graphics card in here. Our first concern when learning about this was that it might be in danger of overheating.

However, Corsair uses the same configuration they’ve been using in the ONE gaming PCs for years–Two designated liquid AIO coolers for both the CPU and GPU to make sure everything stays at a comfortable temperature in this compact case.

And it works really well, especially if you’re going to use it only for gaming. Even when under load (4k resolution, high settings), the average temperature stays below 75°C as far as the GPU is concerned. And on top of that, the noise levels are more than acceptable thanks to the liquid cooling, only getting up to 40dBA at max load.

Another thing that stands out about this PC is its design. Measuring about half the size of a regular desktop, this PC will fit in the smallest spaces. Even though it is a small design, it’s also very aesthetically pleasing, and we wouldn’t want to hide it behind anything. Two RGB strips on each side of the front panel give you a nice glow to shine over your desk or gaming area.

We checked out benchmarks from across the internet to figure out how well this system performs when it comes to 4K gaming. Games like Gears of War 5, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider averaged around 80 to 100 FPS, even on high settings. Older, less demanding games are no struggle at all for this PC either, and you’ll easily be able to play all titles in 4K resolution.

Probably the best part about this PC is that you know every component in it will be from Corsair–meaning high-quality and reliable. You get a 750-watt platinum Corsair power supply, Corsair liquid coolers, memory modules, and more. The worry that your PC is going to come with sub-par components is completely out of the window.

Overall, the Corsair ONE i300 checks all the boxes that you should be on the lookout for when searching for a compact 4K gaming PC. The only two things we’d consider real drawbacks are the premium price and less performance compared to gaming PCs in the same price range.

But apart from that, it still offers excellent performance for 4k gaming (though a configuration with RTX 3090 cards isn’t available), plus a compact design and an excellent liquid cooling system. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a highly compact and powerful PC.

Our Rating:   9.7/10

For those who want a little more power than some of the cheaper options on our list but also don’t want to break the bank and take out a second mortgage, there is one option that we have found to meet your needs.

With all the competition in high-end gaming PCs, it can be hard to find one that is right for your needs without being too much or too little. To solve your problems, we have picked out the perfect solution: the Skytech Chronos.

With Skytech offering so many great gaming PCs, we were surprised at how quickly they have taken over the gaming scene. Sure, there are other brands out there, like CyberpowerPC, Ibuypower, Corsair, and Asus, among many others.

But Skytech offers a fantastic level of performance, sleek and stylish design, and amazing prices. We dug up all the details on this PC to figure out if it really stands up to Skytech’s great reputation. Overall, we realized one fact: the Skytech Chronos is a gaming monster at an excellent price with a couple of minor drawbacks.

To start off, the Skytech Chronos is packing an Intel Core i9-10900K processor. The only downside is that we are already up to the 12th generation, so being stuck with a 10th-generation CPU is a little bit of a disadvantage.

However, let’s not forget that this is still an i9, one of the most powerful processors you can possibly get in a desktop PC, and when it comes to gaming, you’re only going to be missing out on a couple of FPS. As with all the K-processors, this one is also unlocked if you wanted to overclock it.

When it comes to storage capacity, we were a little disappointed to find that Skytech only included a 1TB NVMe SSD. This is fine for computers in a lower price bracket, such as the cheaper options on our list, but we were hoping for a bit more in a PC with this price tag.

The Chronos makes up for it by coming standard with 32GB of RAM; however, it’s a DDR4 memory making it around 30% slower compared to the newer DDR5 memory found on some higher-end PCs on this list.

Furthermore, what’s really impressive about this PC, is the graphics. The Skytech Chronos is packed with an RTX 3080 Ti, one of the most powerful GPUs on the market, that goes neck and neck with the RTX 3090 in terms of gaming performance. For 4k gaming and even streaming your games, this GPU has all you need.

Additionally, the best part of having a 3080 Ti in your PC is the fantastic frame rates you’ll be able to enjoy. We compared benchmarks from some of the most popular games, and overall, this is everything you would expect from a top-of-the-line GPU.

Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War 5, and the Witcher 3 approached 100 FPS on average–Even running at 4K resolution and on the highest settings.

Besides that, you may notice that this Skytech Chronos shares the same case as a less expensive option on our list. That’s not a bad thing, and in fact, we think that Skytech made a great choice as far as the design of this case. With a striking white design, glass side panel, and beautiful mesh pattern on the front, this PC strikes an excellent balance between aesthetics and airflow.

Our usual complaint with Skytech is the warranty, but we think that speaks to the build quality of the system. With a system of this quality, you don’t really need to worry about things breaking, especially with all of the glowing user reports across the internet. If you are stressed about not having a long warranty, there are other manufacturers out there with up to 3-year warranties.

Overall, the Skytech Chronos offers excellent performance for 4k gaming without going overboard on the price. It manages to do that by using older components, such as the 10th-generation Intel CPU and the older DDR4 memory. Which is excellent for budget-conscious gamers because it doesn’t really impact the performance as much in today’s titles. However, you’ll be missing out on the future-proofing that higher-end PCs offer.

Our Rating:   9.6/10

If you are looking for a gaming PC for streaming, 4K gaming, or even virtual reality, you might be overwhelmed with choices. From super expensive high-end PCs to low-end PCs with flashy designs, it can get confusing to find one that is the right mix of value and performance. We’ve cut through the noise with our next pick. This one offers everything you need for a good value: the Skytech Shiva.

You may have heard of Skytech before, and if you haven’t, there is no better time to learn. If you are looking to use your PC for more than just gaming, you’ll be pleased with the Skytech Shiva’s performance–You’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in streaming, virtual reality, and video editing work.

Packed inside is a fully unlocked Ryzen 5 5600X processor. With six cores and twelve threads, you are looking at a powerhouse of a CPU. Additionally, the X means the processor is unlocked, and you can overclock this processor to your heart’s content.

Based on the latest Zen 3 architecture, the Ryzen 5 5600X makes a great choice for a gaming build. It’s not a top-of-the-line processor, but it’s still powerful enough for 4k gaming and lets you save two or three hundred bucks without affecting your gaming performance in any noticeable way.

In terms of storage, you are looking at an average configuration for this price point. With 1TB of NVMe solid-state storage, you will be able to boot your computer in seconds and be enjoying your games right away. As for the RAM, you are looking at a fairly average 16GB of DDR4. We didn’t think this was amazing, especially considering the price, but luckily it is easy enough to upgrade if you want to.

Additionally, if you have upgrades in mind, the 750-watt gold-rated power supply is enough to power all you can manage to fit in the case. If you want to upgrade your CPU or GPU, you can rest assured that the power supply will easily handle it. Furthermore, the case has so much room that extra hard drives and PCI expansions will fit in with no problem.

We were quite impressed with the graphics configuration at this price range. In fact, the GPU is one of the main reasons we felt like we had to add this PC to the list. With an RTX 3080 graphics card, you’ll be able to run just about any game you can think of at 4k. The 10GB of GDDR6X video memory is the fastest memory on the market, and the modern graphics architecture makes this GPU a perfect choice for gamers who want to utilize ray tracing.

We run some benchmarks to figure out how well this system performs with games at 4k, and overall, the results are very good. Games like Gears 5, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Horizon Zero Dawn averaged almost 90 Frames per second. Even on maximum settings, these are very good frame rates.

Less demanding games like Wolfenstein Youngblood and Doom Eternal were no issue for this system either, getting around 120-130 FPS on ultra settings.

Additionally, the Skytech Shiva had a stellar design to match its performance. With all white panels and a glass side panel, this system will be the center point of your desk or gaming cave. Everything is illuminated from within by customizable RGB lighting. Furthermore, you can barely hear this system thanks to the sound-dampening qualities of the case.

Of course, you can’t get everything you want, and our only complaint with Skytech is their warranties are simply average. If you want a really lengthy warranty, there are other manufacturers to choose from, but we think the build quality of this system makes up for it, and the customer service from Skytech is superb.

Overall, the Skytech Shiva is an excellent value pick for 4K gaming. It provides one of the best, if not the best, GPU you can get at this price point while cutting costs on things that don’t affect your gaming experience as much, even at 4k–Such as the CPU, 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB, or liquid cooling for your CPU/GPU. If you’re looking for the best performance per dollar for 4k gaming, it doesn’t get better than the Skytech Shiva.

  • Plenty of customizable RGB
  • Striking aesthetics
  • Stays cool and quiet, even under load

  • On the edge of what we would recommend for a smooth 4k experience

Our Rating:   9.5/10

If you don’t have the budget for some of the higher-end options on our list, we still have some answers for you. We’ve turned to Skytech yet again to provide an awesome 4k gaming computer at a reasonable price. With a lineup of great custom PCs, Skytech is an overall solid choice for finding a good deal on a gaming computer. We’ve selected one in particular that provides great bang for your buck: the Skytech Chronos.

The Skytech Chronos stands out by offering a solid mix of performance, price, and upgradeability. In addition, if you are looking to get a desktop with a striking design, the Skytech Chronos doesn’t let you down in that department either.

With an Intel Core i5-12600K processor running at 3.70GHz, you get solid processing power with overclocking capabilities. Additionally, the CPU in this system is hyperthreaded to maximize your performance while gaming, streaming, or even loading up virtual reality.

For storage, you get a 1TB NVMe SSD, which is significantly faster than an older PC with a conventional hard drive. Furthermore, coupled with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, this system is very fast for everything from basic tasks to complex multitasking. At this price point (and for 4k gaming), this is an adequate amount of both storage and RAM.

Additionally, you get a very competitive graphics card for the price. With an RTX 3070 from Nvidia, you have all the graphics processing power you need to meet the requirements of all of the most popular games.

When it comes to 4K gaming, the Skytech Chronos won’t let you down if you’re willing to dial the settings back in some cases. That being said, the RTX 3070 graphics card makes it extremely capable of running games at ultra HD 4K resolution.

To back up this claim, we benchmarked this PC to figure out how well this card can game, and overall the results are very good for the price. Games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Horizon Zero Dawn showed an impressive 60 FPS average at 4K, even at ultra settings.

Less demanding games like Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein Youngblood were even better, showing average frame rates well over 100. The RTX 3070, coupled with the Intel Core i5-12600K, makes a formidable match for gaming even at 4k, as you can see.

Furthermore, you’ll notice the design is very striking on the PC. With a tempered glass side panel, you are able to see every internal detail on this computer easily. Plus, the array of RGB lighting and color-changing fans make this computer pop. A colorful design like this will be the focal point of any room. To top it off, the front panel is a textured mesh pattern that really adds a unique look to this computer while helping the airflow as well.

The only thing to complain about is that the warranty is simply average. You get a one-year warranty covering parts and labor. This is not quite as good as some other manufacturers which are known to offer 2-year or longer warranties. However, we think the build quality and overall reliability make this less of an issue.

Overall, the Skytech Chronos is the best budget PC if you are looking to get into 4K gaming. It won’t have any issues running all of the latest games in 4K (with a few exceptions), and we think that the design ties it all in perfectly. If you want something more powerful, there is no way to get it without spending a bit more. But, if you’re looking for a ‘budget’ 4k gaming PC under $2000, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better.

SkyTech Shadow 3.0

REASONS TO BUY

  • Quality construction
  • Solid 4k performance for older games
  • Nice aesthetics with plenty of RGB
  • RAM and storage on par with more expensive PCs
  • Stays cool, even under heavier loads
  • Excellent customer service

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Will struggle with newer, taxing games
  • Gets a bit loud under load
  • PSU doesn’t allow for big upgrades
  • Only a 1-year warranty

Our Rating:   9.3/10

If you don’t have a ton of money to spend on your gaming hobby, then many of the high-end options will be out of reach for you. The good news is that there is still hope if you don’t have a huge budget to spend on a gaming PC. If you’re looking to spend less than $1500, then the Skytech Shadow 3.0 is a great option. But be wary; you won’t be able to play the latest games on it at 4k resolution.

However, the Skytech Shadow is more than just a basic machine. Although it’s not the most powerful system around and definitely not the fastest on our list, it is actually not that bad for light 4k gaming.

Furthermore, the flashy design and RGB lighting ensure that you can still enjoy a high-end appearance, even on a lower-end PC. Calling the Skytech Shadow 3.0 a lower-end PC is an understatement, as it is packed with some nice hardware.

With a Ryzen 5 3600 processor, you get a strong foundation to upgrade later if you want to. A CPU like this won’t bottleneck your performance if you eventually want to upgrade your graphics card or add more RAM. Additionally, with 6 cores and 12 threads, this CPU packs enough punch to stand up to a lot of the most popular games.

The storage is exactly what you need to load up a large library of your favorite games, and the 1TB NVMe SSD makes it very fast as well. Besides that, it only includes 16GB of RAM, which is not a ton, but it’s more than plenty for gaming at 4k. Plus, the RAM is easily upgradeable.

Furthermore, the graphics card provided in the Skytech Shadow 3.0 is also very competitive. The manufacturers could have cut corners and used a lower-end card like the RTX 3050 or standard 3060, but they chose to push the limits and go with a 3060-Ti. This GPU is a great mid-tier card and definitely can run some games at 4k. Though, newer and graphically taxing games are out of reach for this GPU, as you’ll struggle to maintain a smooth 60 FPS in a lot of cases.

For example, games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 only average around 30 FPS average when running at 4K, although you can improve this number by lowering your settings. Older and less demanding games, such as Overwatch, LoL, and Counter-Strike, to name a few, will run much better, easily reaching 60+ FPS on high settings.

The design offered by the Skytech Shadow 3.0 is nice but not the most spacious. The side panel is made of tempered glass and swings away easily if you want to open the case for maintenance. Additionally, the case has plenty of cooling fans to keep everything stable. The only complaint we have is that this PC can get a little loud under load.

Besides that, the warranty offered by Skytech is average. You get one year of coverage for parts and labor, which is not terrible, but not as good as some custom PC makers, such as CyberpowerPC and Xidax, which offer much longer warranties.

Overall, the Skytech Shadow 3.0 is the cheapest gaming PC we’d recommend for 4k monitors and only for older, less taxing games. Still, the processor and graphics card provided are both very competitive for this price range, and everything can be upgraded later down the road. If you are looking for a prebuilt PC for light 4k gaming, the Skytech Shadow 3.0 is a great option.
