1. Redragon Kumara K552

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: LED RGB | Weight: 2.16lbs / 0.98kg

Redragon Kumara K552

REASONS TO BUY

  • Superb value
  • High-quality build
  • Attractive aesthetics
  • Compact TKL design
  • Responsive switches

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No RGB
  • No numpad

Our Rating:   9.8/10

First on our list is the Redragon Kumara K552 RGB Mechanical Keyboard. The K552 is one of the best mechanical keyboards that you can buy for less than $50. You still get all the features that you would expect from a high-end keyboard, like, for example, the Razer Huntsman, except that you only have to pay a fraction of the price.

Besides that, it feels great and looks great right out of the box with the clean black finish–You can immediately tell it was well-built. It has a very sturdy metal and hard plastic base, which prevents the keyboard from flexing or bending. In other words, it’ll stand up to the toughest gaming sessions you put it through.

It comes in a compact TKL design, which means it doesn’t include the Numpad. If you don’t necessarily need one, you will appreciate the extra desk space, which is always handy for those fancy flick shots or 360s.

What’s also great is that it comes with the outemu blue switches. They feel and sound just like Cherry MX blue switches. Right away, you’ll notice how great it feels to type on, and you still get that satisfying clicky sound. They’ll last you a long time, too, rated up to 50 million keystrokes.

The RGB backlight is vibrant and looks amazing against the black keyboard base. The key caps are all uniform and ergonomically designed to ensure comfort for long gaming sessions.

However, I did notice the key caps had a very “gamer” looking font, and it can come off kinda cheesy. Personally, I’m not a fan of this style, but it’s certainly not a deal-breaker. It also doesn’t come with a wrist rest. Again, not a deal breaker. But I think some gamers would appreciate the extra support.

Overall, the Redragon Kumara K552 is easily one of the best gaming keyboards under $50 in 2024–It is an amazing entry-level mechanical keyboard at an even more amazing price. The K552 is a great choice for serious gamers who are looking for a high-quality mechanical gaming keyboard but don’t want to break the bank.

Or, simply, if you’re looking to make the switch from a standard keyboard to your first mechanical keyboard, then the Redragon Kumara K552 is definitely a good option. Even though Redragon is not as well known as other big-name gaming keyboard brands, the quality, reliability, and performance are undeniable.

2. VicTsing Conqueror Armor

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: Rainbow LED | Weight: 3.24lbs / 1.47kg

VicTsing Conqueror Armour

REASONS TO BUY

  • Quality build
  • Responsive switches
  • Full-sized keyboard
  • 9 lighting effects
  • Fairly comfortable wrist rest

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Not a true RGB
  • No dedicated media keys

Our Rating:   9.7/10

Next up is the VicTsing Conqueror Armour Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. You might not recognize the name yet, but you’ll want to remember it. The Conqueror Armour is another rare high-quality mechanical gaming keyboard at under $50.

Out of the box, you get a gorgeous full-sized keyboard with a nice black finish. The keyboard base feels sturdy and doesn’t have much flex. It’s also equipped with high-quality outemu blue switches – not quite the Cherry MX blue, but they sound and feel just as good.

So not only does it look great, but it feels great to type with, too. Very crisp key clicks that you expect from high-quality switches. The ergonomic and durable design is rated to last up to 50 million keystrokes. So it will last you countless gaming sessions.

It also comes with anti-ghosting, so you’ll never miss another key press again. You’ll feel confident in both gaming and typing. You won’t worry about losing another build battle in Fortnite or losing another combo in Osu.

On top of that, the Conqueror has decent rainbow LED lighting that comes with nine different color modes. Literally a light show in the comfort of your home. You can even adjust the speed and brightness level right there on the keyboard. No complicated software is needed.

What I really enjoy about this keyboard is that I feel like it is looking out for me. Sometimes, I get paranoid when I have a drink on my desk. One spill, even one drip on my keyboard, and it’s toast. But not with VicTsing Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. It has a splash-resistant design that protects your keyboard from small accidental spills.

This keyboard also comes with a surprisingly comfortable wrist rest. The ergonomic honeycomb pattern is designed to relieve discomfort and fatigue. Nothing to write home about, but if you totally need a wrist rest, it’s good enough.

Although the keyboard is not as well-known as the Razers or Logitechs of the world, it’s still a solid budget mechanical keyboard. It feels more geared toward a casual gamer. The full-sized keyboard means it’s good for both work and play.

With the VicTsing Conqueror Armour, you still get the same high-quality switches and backlighting as you do in keyboards that cost twice as much.

The splash-resistant design is a nice perk, too. You can still sip on your morning coffee or ice-cold Coke without worrying too much about damaging your keyboard.

Overall, the VicTsing Conqueror Armour is a great value pick, and it’s one of the rare mechanical gaming keyboards at this price point that delivers amazing value and quality.

3. SteelSeries Apex 3

Interface: USB | Switch: Membrane | Backlighting: 10-zone RGB | Weight: 2.79lbs / 1.27kg

SteelSeries Apex 3

REASONS TO BUY

  • Very quiet performance
  • Dedicated multi-media controls
  • Excellent RGB lighting
  • Quality build
  • Magnetic wrist rest

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Membrane switches

Our Rating:   9.6/10

Finally, a gaming brand that you should be familiar with. Steelseries is a gaming company known for designing high-quality gaming peripherals, accessories, and of course…keyboards.

Their Apex Pro gaming keyboard is a marvelous piece of engineering feat and definitely does not belong in this list of the best gaming keyboards you can get for under $50 – but the SteelSeries Apex 3 does.

If you aren’t in the market for those fancy and loud mechanical keyboards, then I highly recommend you take a look at the SteelSeries Apex 3.

You’ll get a full-sized membrane keyboard that is perfect for work and play. You’ll instantly notice how whisper-quiet and tactile it feels typing on this keyboard. Perfect for the office or those late-night sessions when you don’t want to disturb everyone else around you.

The SteelSeries Apex 3 is also IP32-rated to protect you from accidental spills and dust accumulation. IP32 is the universal standard for water and dust resistance. It pretty much means that this keyboard was designed to greatly reduce any liquid and dust from getting inside your keyboard.

But just because the Apex 3 is highly water-resistant, it doesn’t mean that it’s waterproof. So please, don’t buy this keyboard and pour a tall glass of water on it to prove us wrong.

Additionally, it also comes with a premium detachable magnetic wrist rest that feels soft while providing all-day comfort and support. Just another detail this company gets right.

The RGB backlight looks great, and you can even customize it to match any gaming setup color theme. The lights even react in games like Minecraft to alert you about durability and HP. It even works with Discord to alert you about messages, voice transmissions, and more.

Do you listen to music on Spotify or watch videos on YouTube? The SteelSeries Apex 3 has an integrated multimedia wheel that lets you easily and quickly adjust the volume, rewind, pause, skip, and play with a single touch.

Overall, the SteelSeries Apex 3 is a fantastic choice for gamers who are looking for a great budget keyboard and aren’t fans of mechanical keyboards. You won’t experience any decline in gaming satisfaction just because you don’t have those fancy mechanical switches. It still feels amazing. And you still get a premium quality keyboard that comes with all the bells and whistles.

4. HyperX Alloy Core RGB

Interface: USB | Switch: Membrane | Backlighting: RGB | Weight: 2.50lbs / 1.13kg

HyperX Alloy Core RGB

REASONS TO BUY

  • Quiet clicks
  • Light and portable design
  • 5-zone RGB lighting
  • Dedicated media buttons
  • Easy on-the-fly customization

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Membrane switches

Our Rating:   9.6/10

Next up, we have another big name in the gaming world, HyperX. You can always expect high-quality products from them. Yes, that includes gaming keyboards – specifically the HyperX Alloy Core RGB Gaming Keyboard.

Again, if you’re not a fan of mechanical switches, then you’ll be glad that the HyperX has got your back.

The HyperX Alloy Core RGB Gaming Keyboard features a very comfortable and very quiet membrane keyboard. It feels very smooth and fluid. Besides that, the switches are fairly responsive and include anti-ghosting functionality for accurate and precise gaming.

The Core RGB is built on a light and durable plastic frame that feels really solid. Besides that, the nice matte black finish looks great on almost any desk.

What’s also nice is that the keyboard is spill-resistant up to 120ml of liquid, which means unless you happen to dump an entire bottle of Sprite on your keyboard, you should be covered in most cases.

Also, if the bright RGB backlighting wasn’t flashy enough for you, the HyperX Alloy Core RGB also comes equipped with their signature radiant light bar, which is located above the keys. And the best part is you don’t even need any complicated software to personalize it. You can adjust the lighting right there on your keyboard.

The dedicated media controls are also a nice addition that you don’t even find in more expensive and higher-end gaming keyboards. It’s a nod to their fans, and it shows you that they care about your total gaming experience.

However, I’m not a fan of it being Windows-only compatible. Sorry, Mac users. It’s not a deal-breaker, but as someone who uses both Windows and Mac operating systems on a regular basis, I have to point this one out.

Even then, HyperX has still managed to deliver another high-quality and affordable product. If you’re already a fan of HyperX and their products, then you’ll really enjoy the Alloy Core Gaming Keyboard.

All in all, there’s a lot to love about the Core RGB. Considering the price the keyboard comes at, it has plenty of features that even a more demanding gamer will appreciate. If you’re specifically looking for a quiet, membrane keyboard that packs a whole lotta punch, the HyperX Core RGB is an excellent choice.

5. Razer Cynosa Chroma Gaming Keyboard

Interface: USB | Switch: Membrane Gaming-Grade Keys | Backlighting: 16.8M Per Key RGB | Weight: 2.09lbs / 0.95kg

Razer Cynosa Chroma

REASONS TO BUY

  • Best-selling membrane keyboard
  • 16.8M colors per-key RGB
  • Excellent build quality
  • Durable backplate
  • Plenty of gaming-focused features

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Costs more than $50
  • No wrist rest

Our Rating:   9.5/10

Razer arguably makes some of the best gaming keyboards on the planet. They repeatedly launch stellar gaming keyboards time after time. They’re also known for building top-of-the-line gaming mice, laptops, headsets, and more.

But that quality usually comes at a steep price tag. Luckily for you, Razer cares about their fans and have released more affordable products.

I’m talking specifically about the Razer Cynosa Chroma Gaming Keyboard. It’s the #1 selling gaming membrane keyboard in the US, and for good reason. Somehow, Razer has managed to pack so many features into this keyboard and not charge a fortune for it.

In typical Razer fashion, you’ll immediately notice a superior quality and finish to the Cynosa. The sharp and sleek matte-black finish gives the keyboard a really premium look.

What’s surprising is how well the Cynosa is built. It feels durable and ready to battle with you through the toughest of gaming sessions. It’s also spill-resistant with drainage holes underneath. If that isn’t enough, you also get a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

On top of that, the keys are just as reliable and life-proof. They’ll last you up to an impressive 80 million keystrokes and have 100% anti-ghosting. So whether it’s day three or day three hundred, you can be sure that your jump, crouch, strafe, or knife key will continue to work for you time after time.

With a range of up to 16.8 million colors, the RGB backlighting is nothing short of spectacular. Another brilliant feature that you normally expect from their higher-end keyboard models. You’ll also have access to their intuitive Razer Synapse software. So now you can easily rebind buttons and assign macros, and with a near-infinite color range, there are endless possibilities.

Even with all these amazing features, I still wish it would have come with a wrist rest. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just something soft and ergonomic would have done the trick. Personally, I notice after longer gaming sessions, I tend to get lazy with my posture and rest my wrist directly on my desk. The extra support would have been a nice touch. Oh well.

Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the Razer Cynosa. I’m still not sure how they were about to pack so many features into this keyboard and not charge an arm and a leg for it. The very same features that you expect from a high-end gaming keyboard worth three times as much, this keyboard has it.

Overall, the Razer Cynosa Chroma delivers on both performance and value and is among the very best gaming keyboards you can buy for less than $50 in 2024. The fact that it’s a membrane keyboard might be a deal breaker for some, but if don’t mind, it’s one of the best in its category.

6. Redragon K551

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: LED RGB | Weight: 2.38lbs / 1.08kg

Redragon K551

REASONS TO BUY

  • High-quality build
  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Super responsive switches
  • Comfortable keycaps
  • Durable

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No wrist rest
  • No dedicated media buttons

Our Rating:   9.4/10

It’s no surprise that Redragon makes the list again. They make some of the best entry-level gaming mechanical keyboards that you can find anywhere.

Unlike the Redragon Kumara K552 I mentioned earlier, the Redragon K551 is a full-sized keyboard, meaning it’s more suitable for people who use Numpad on their keyboard.

You can expect the same blend of features, functionality, durability, and comfort with the Redragon K551. The same metal-ABS construction makes it feel very sturdy and able to take a beating. The ergonomic and splash-proof design is an added bonus that you’ll appreciate.

And even though it’s a full-sized keyboard, it doesn’t feel too big or bulky. The thin bezels and compact design optimize every inch of space.

The LED RGB backlighting shines just as bright as other keyboards, and besides that, it has five different lighting presets to let you customize the lighting of your keyboard to your liking.

You’ll still get the same high-quality outemu blue switches – the same crisp sound and the same dependability with 100% anti-ghosting.

Additionally, there are 12 dedicated multimedia keys and a gold-plated USB connector for reliable connections. Both are a nice touch and attention to detail. It still amazes me how these more affordable keyboards come with this feature, yet keyboards that cost four times as much don’t.

Again, Redragon has managed to deliver another great entry-level gaming mechanical keyboard for under $50.

7. Redragon K561 VISNU

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: RGB | Weight: 1.70lbs / 0.77kg

Redragon K561 VISNU

REASONS TO BUY

  • Quality and durable build
  • Compact TKL design
  • Spill and dust resistant
  • N-Key rollover
  • 18 different lighting modes
  • Lightweight and portable

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No wrist rest
  • No dedicated media buttons

Our Rating:   9.2/10

Are you even surprised that Redragon made this top 10 list again? I’m certainly not. They’re known for building high-quality and affordable gaming hardware. And the Redragon K561 VISNU is another example of their commitment to excellence at a reasonable price.

The Redragon K561 VISNU comes in a great space-saving TKL design. It reminds me a lot of the Kumara K552 that sits at number one – except that it’s built like a tank. The edge-to-edge full metal backplate looks tough and durable.

It also has a nice matte finish that brings it all together. For even more protection, it’s also rated IP67. So it’s highly spill and dust-resistant. This keyboard is tough, and it’s going to last you a long time.

In Redragon fashion, it also comes with the clicky outemu blue switches. The responsiveness and tactile feeling are perfect for work or play. The keys also have N-Key Rollover and 100% anti-ghosting, so it registers every keystroke every time. They’ll also last you up to 50 million keystrokes.

Are you a fan of lights? If so, you won’t be disappointed. The Redragon K561 VISNU has fantastic RGB backlighting. It might be because of the metallic backplate, but it does seem to give off a brighter glow. And with 18 different lighting modes, it’ll easily match any gaming color scheme.

At the end of the day, this is another great entry-level gaming mechanical keyboard from Redragon. The same perfect blend of value and function that you expect from a Redragon product. If you’re looking to get your first gaming mechanical keyboard but don’t want to get something boring, then I totally recommend you to go with the Redragon K561 VISNU.

It has a design that will turn heads, and it’s built like a tank. It kinda reminds me of the batmobile from Batman Begins. It’s not a style that’s for everyone, but definitely stands out!

8. MOTOSPEED CK82

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: Rainbow LED | Weight: 1.95lbs / 0.88kg

MOTOSPEED CK82

REASONS TO BUY

  • Unique, ergonomic design
  • Responsive switches
  • 12-month worry-free warranty
  • N-key rollover
  • Perfect for female gamers

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No dedicated media keys
  • No wrist rest
  • No numpad

Our Rating:   9.1/10

If you thought the Redragon K561 VISNU was a real head-turner, just wait until you see this next one I have for you. Again, it’s from a lesser-known gaming keyboard brand, but it stands out even more.

On the next spot on our list, we have the MOTOSPEED CK82 Professional Gaming Mechanical Keyboard.

If you’re looking for something truly special, then look no further. This keyboard comes in a rare all-pink design. That’s right, P-I-N-K, pink. That alone is reason enough to make it on this list. It does come in the classic black colorway, but why would you when you can get an all-pink keyboard?

But don’t worry, not only does this keyboard look great, it also feels great.

You’ll find the same great features in the MOTOSPEED CK82 as you would in other popular gaming mechanical keyboards in this price range.

It comes in a nice compact TKL layout with red or blue outemu switches for that nice clicky sound and tactile feel that you want in high-quality switches. The keys feature 100% anti-ghosting, so you’ll also be able to game for days worry-free. And they’ll last you up to 50 million keystrokes.

The CK82 is made of an aluminum alloy-ABS construction and feels really durable. You also get a 12-month worry-free warranty, which is always useful. It’s Windows and MacOS compatible. And you also get a company 30-day money-back and a 12-month worry-free warranty. So you know MOTOSPEED’s got you covered.

However, there’s one thing I’m not such a big fan of with the MOTOSPEED CK82. It’s the RGB backlighting. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend using the full range of colors. The rainbow glow against the pink backplate looks kinda funny. It doesn’t really work for me. But if you were to use a single color all around, like white or light blue, then I think this keyboard looks absolutely stunning.

If you’re looking for an attention-grabbing keyboard, get the MOTOSPEED CK82. Or if you’re actually looking specifically for a pink keyboard, then you should definitely get this keyboard.

Overall, the MOTOSPEED CK82 is another solid-budget gaming mechanical keyboard pick for less than $50. Gamers of all levels can appreciate the simple and clean design. They’ll appreciate the same features of a higher-end gaming mechanical keyboard without the ridiculous price tag. And if you’re into pink, then it’s a no-brainer.

9. 1STPLAYER DK 5.0

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: LED RGB | Weight: 2.43lbs / 1.10kg

1STPLAYER DK 5.0

REASONS TO BUY

  • Amazing build quality
  • Durable
  • Great for gaming
  • Excellent lighting
  • Great software

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No wrist rest
  • No dedicated media buttons

Our Rating:   9.0/10

I’m pretty sure you haven’t heard of this brand before. At least I hadn’t heard of them until I started writing this list.

1StPLAYER doesn’t have the prestige and worldwide fan base as other popular gaming brands like Razer or HyperX. They’re not as well-known for building high-quality gaming mechanical keyboards. But they make up for it with their attention to detail.

Do you remember the great sounding and feeling outemu blue switches that we mentioned before in other keyboards like the Redragon Kumara K552? 1STPLAYER DK 5.0 has them too.

Do you remember the brilliant RGB backlighting and vast color range in other keyboards like the Razer Cynosa Chroma? Yep, the DK 5.0 has them too.

What about programmable macro keys or dedicated software? The DK 5.0 also has those functions built in, too.

The same features that you expect in any comparable gaming mechanical keyboard in this price range, the 1STPLAYER DK 5.0 RGB Gaming Mechanical Keyboard has it.

It’s a smaller named brand, but it has big brand capabilities. So, if you’re a gamer who’s looking for a great starter budget gaming mechanical keyboard. A gamer who doesn’t care about big-name brands.

Rather, you care about the things that really matter, like build quality, comfort, durability, and reliability. Then I recommend you get the 1STPLAYER DK5.0 RGB Gaming Mechanical Keyboard. You won’t be disappointed.

10. Eagletec KG011

Interface: USB | Switch: Outemu Blue Clicky | Backlighting: Blue LED | Weight: 2.29lbs / 1.04kg

Eagletec KG011

REASONS TO BUY

  • Quality construction
  • Attractive aesthetics
  • Easy to clean
  • Comfortable keycaps
  • Great for both gaming and typing

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Very loud switches
  • No dedicated media buttons
  • No wrist rest

Our Rating:   8.9/10

If you’re looking for a mechanical keyboard that you’ll actually want to bring to work, then this would be the one. Rounding out the final spot of our list for the top 10 gaming keyboards under $50 is the Eagletec KG011 Mechanical Keyboard.

First of all, this keyboard looks stunning. It has an industrial aesthetic to it, mixed with some Scandinavian in it. The aircraft-grade aluminum metal backplate with white keycaps and blue backlighting look amazing together. You can tell they took a lot of care into how this keyboard was built.

It comes equipped with – you guessed it – outemu blue switches. So you’ll experience the same great clicky sounds and tactile feeling in the Eagletec KG011 as you would in other mechanical keyboards at this affordable price point. It feels just as good to type as it is to game with. And as a bonus, the keys are also designed to be non-slip, ergonomic, and spill-proof.

Furthermore, what I really enjoy about the Eagletec KG011 is how they chose not to go the typical gamer mechanical keyboard route. You know, the typical black keyboard with rainbow RGB backlighting. Instead, they pushed the boundaries and successfully created a mechanical keyboard that works as well as it looks.

Overall, the Eagletec KG011 Mechanical Keyboard is a fantastic choice for gamers who don’t want to choose between a work or play keyboard. This keyboard is perfect for playing your favorite games, and it feels just as satisfying typing your 10-page assignment.

And if you’re into the Scandinavian and industrial aesthetic, then this is one of the rare mechanical keyboards that fit the bill. It’s rare, in general, to find a keyboard that looks as stunning as this one. It’s truly a great-looking product.

Can You Really Find a Good Gaming Keyboard for Under $50?

If you’ve read everything up until now, then you should already know the answer. Think about it like this. You can buy a white crewneck shirt for under $10 at Walmart. But if you were to shop at a luxury brand like Gucci. The same simple white crewneck shirt will cost you upwards of $400.

You’ve probably noticed a trend with this list of the top 10 best gaming keyboards you can get for under $50 in 2024. Plenty of smaller name brands. Of course, we had to include the Razers, HyperXs, and SteelSeries of the world, because they deservingly belong on this list. But so do the Redragons, VicTsings, and MOTOSPEEDs of the world.

You still get the same quality, satisfaction, and pleasure gaming with the Redragon Kumara K552 as you would with a Corsair K55 RGB Gaming Keyboard. It’s like doing a blind tasting with a can of Mountain Dew and a store-brand version. They both taste delicious, and most of the time, you can’t even tell them apart.

Is a Gaming Keyboard Worth It?

I believe a gaming keyboard is absolutely worth it if you want to maximize your performance. Sure, you might be able to get away with using a standard keyboard. But gaming keyboards were specifically designed to optimize your gaming experience. There are features that are built into a gaming keyboard that you won’t find in a standard keyboard.

Things like having dedicated multimedia control to quickly change the volume, skip tracks, or pause a video. Having programmable macro keys is super useful for customizing shortcuts. Sometimes default controls don’t work well for everyone, so it’s nice to be able to change the key bind and save that profile for the future.

Also, features like anti-ghosting ensure that keys work when you press them. It doesn’t even matter if you press two keys or 12 keys down at the same time. Your keyboard will register every keystroke and perform the action associated with that key.

Lastly, one of the best reasons to get a gaming keyboard is that it usually comes with really high-quality mechanical switches. Besides sounding and feeling great to type with, they make all the difference in your gameplay. They’re specifically engineered to activate faster and more efficiently to ensure that you’re ready for even the most fast-paced action.

How Much Should I Spend on a Gaming Keyboard?

It all really depends on your budget. In most situations, you don’t need all the extra fancy features that come with a $200 dollar gaming mechanical keyboard. There are more affordable options out there, like the gaming keyboards we mentioned earlier in this list, that will all get the job done. The very same features you expect from a high-end gaming keyboard are usually accessible in keyboards worth half as much.

For example, are you a fan of Cherry MX switches? Like the ones you’ll find in the popular Ducky One 2 mechanical keyboard. The same keyboard that is always sold out with 2-month-long waitlists. Why bother when you can get the readily available Redragon Kumara with comparable outemu red switches? They both sound and feel very similar. The only difference you’ll notice is that you’ll be paying a fraction of the price for one, and you won’t have to wait two months to get your hands on it.

So the bottom line is, I think for the average gamer, you don’t need all the bells and whistles of a $150+ gaming mechanical keyboard. All you really need is a gaming keyboard that won’t fail you in the midst of a gaming session. And the best part is you don’t even have to break the bank. There are many great choices to choose from, and we’ve already curated 10 of the best gaming keyboards under $50 in 2024.

Do I Really Need a Mechanical Keyboard?

Again, it really depends on your personal preference. If you’ve used a mechanical keyboard before, then you already get it. But if you’ve never used a mechanical keyboard before, then you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise.

To truly immerse yourself in the PC gaming experience, you need to awaken your senses. Okay, maybe you can’t really taste or smell your keyboard. But you can still see, hear, and feel it.

The first sense you’ll experience is sight. Most mechanical keyboards are a feast for your eyes. You won’t find the boring grey keyboards from your elementary school days here. Most mechanical keyboards come in a sleek and simple design. RGB Backlighting comes standard and is literally your own personal light show.

The next sense you’ll experience is hearing. Mechanical keyboards get the name because they use mechanical switches. With a high-quality mechanical switch, when you press a key, it makes the most satisfying sound. They give off a nice clicky sound that you’ll want to keep pressing over and over again.

And the last sense you’ll experience is feel. The three most popular mechanical switches you’ll encounter are brown, blue, and red. Each one will give you a different sensation.

Brown switches are known for being tactile. When you press on a brown switch, you’ll notice a slight bump to indicate that the key you pressed has been activated.

Blue switches are known for being clicky. They feel buttery smooth to type with and give off a louder clicky sound.

Red switches are the best of both worlds. They are just as buttery smooth to type with, but they aren’t as loud or clicky as blue switches.
