Our Rating:   9.8/10

The Asus TUF Gaming F15 is not only the go-to option when looking for a laptop with the longest battery life, but it’s also one of the best gaming laptops in terms of value in 2023.

ASUS’ TUF brand has been known for a long time as the high-quality budget option, and the F15 is a prime example of that, offering excellent performance, high-quality build, and a very competitive price tag.

To start off, when purchasing this model, you will have either 90Wh or 48Wh battery options. It is imperative that you choose the 90Wh, as the lesser of the two only boasts 3-4 hours of strained use at a time.

With the 90Wh battery version, you can expect around 6+ hours of strained use, 8+ hours of light use or strained use with all power-saving options turned on, and 12+ hours of just video playback. These battery life metrics outclass most of the competition and are even comparable with battery-focused business laptops.

Part of the reason this laptop has such an exceptional battery life is that it cuts down on unnecessary features, such as RGB lighting or a premium display panel, while focusing on features that actually matter, such as high-performing hardware for gaming, efficiency, and as we already mentioned, price.

Speaking of performance, this particular model offers the perfect mix of components to provide high-end gaming performance while keeping the price affordable. It comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-12700H, an Nvidia RTX 4070, and a modest but still adequate 16GB of RAM and 1TB of fast NVMe storage.

This hardware will allow you to play all of the current games, even the more demanding triple-A games, on the highest graphics settings, especially with DLSS3 turned on. In addition to that, it’s also suited for some content creation, including video editing and some heavier rendering.

Now, with a 15.6” 144hz 1080p screen, it has the perfect display for a budget gaming laptop, and thanks to the included hardware, you will be able to use it to its full potential. It’s certainly not top-of-the-line, but it’s sharp, smooth, and colorful–Everything you need for gaming.

On top of that, it’s solid for color-critical work, though not perfect, with a 92% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. The only gripe we have is the lower brightness, around 300 nits on average, which you may struggle with if you plan on using the laptop outside or in brightly lit environments.

The value is where this laptop shines the brightest. Its performance is comparable to some laptops double the price, and because of this, it is often sold out. If you happen to find this laptop in stock, make sure you jump on it quickly, as it will not last very long.

Where we start to see the cutbacks is in the webcam. It’s a noticeably blurry and grainy 720p unit, which will get you through a work meeting but is far insufficient for professional use or content creation. Plus, the audio is average at best, though not the worst we’ve seen on a gaming laptop.

Overall, the Asus TUF Gaming F15 is a perfect match for gamers who are looking for a quality and cost-effective gaming laptop with a long battery life. Not only does it feature the longest battery life we’ve seen in a gaming laptop, but it’s also durable, high-performing, and affordable. But act swiftly; it’s often sold out.

2. Asus ROG Zephyrus G16

Display Size: 16” | Panel Type: IPS | Screen Resolution: FullHD+ (1920 x 1200) | CPU: Intel Core i7-13620H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 | RAM: 16 GB DDR5 | Storage: 512 GB SSD | Weight: 4.4 lbs / 2 kg

Asus ROG Zephyrus G16

REASONS TO BUY

  • Beautiful design
  • Lightweight, thin, and highly portable
  • Exceptional battery life
  • Ample power-saving features
  • Gorgeous, color-accurate screen
  • Powerful hardware
  • Sturdy build
  • Great speakers
  • Rich I/O selection

REASONS TO AVOID

  • 720p webcam
  • Higher price
  • No per-key RGB

Our Rating:   9.7/10

The Asus ROG Zephyrus is one of our favorite offerings from Asus and a perfect addition to this list. Not only does it feature one of the longest battery lives in a gaming laptop, it’s also powerful, looks great, and is highly portable for a 16” laptop built for high-end gaming.

To start, there are 8 total configurations for this model ranging from an Intel Core i7-12700H and RTX 4050 6GB all the way to an Intel Core i9-13900H and RTX 4070. We are using the i7-13620H and RTX 4060 model, with an 11-hour and 21-minute maximum recorded battery life. But all of the models feature a massive 90Wh battery, granting a substantial battery boost over most competitors.

In addition to the excellent out-of-the-box battery life, the laptop comes equipped with a lot of battery management features, such as the display automatically switching to 60hz, dimming the brightness, and switching to a power-saving mode.

With all of the power-saving features turned on, backlighting off, and minimum brightness, you’ll be able to get upwards of 10 hours, depending on the use. On 70% brightness, while rendering images, using editing software, or consistently working, you can expect around 4-6 hours of battery life.

For gaming, you can expect anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the title and graphical demands–Older games will have significantly better results. Overall, the battery life is one of the best when it comes to higher-end gaming laptops.

In terms of performance, the i7-13620H does a lot of heavy lifting at 4.9 GHz, sporting 6 performance cores and 8 Efficiency cores. Paired with the RTX 4060, this laptop provides enough power to comfortably run the most demanding games currently out there and even puts some serious content creation on the table.

The consistent performance is also helped by the 1920×1200 resolution, but you’re losing some sharpness achieved by 1440p displays. Some other features were cut as well to keep the price lower compared to some competitors, such as the webcam being only 720p, a 512GB NVMe drive instead of the standard 1TB, and per-key RGB missing on the keyboard.

Now, except for the lower resolution, the display is fantastic. It produces a smooth, vibrant, and colorful viewing experience, perfect for a wide variety of activities, including gaming, content creation, media consumption, and more.

In detail, it is a 16” FullHD+ IPS panel with a 165hz refresh rate and an anti-glare coating to reduce reflections. Again, it’s not as sharp as the QHD model, but it makes up for it with an exceptional brightness of 500 nits and high color accuracy, boasting 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Some of the other cool features include a 180-degree tilt on the display, allowing you to lay it completely flat should you desire. This is not a very common feature. Plus, the design, while more subtle for a ROG laptop, is sleek, lightweight, and sturdy, resulting in a reliable and highly portable device.

Additionally, you get a good number of ports, even though the positioning could be much better. They are mostly squished up against your closest left side, which is a bit awkward if you use them all at once. In total, you get an HDMI 2.1 and two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 and DP, along with ethernet, audio, and USB together. Then a second USB is on the other side.

All in all, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is another high-quality gaming laptop that can last a full day without needing to charge. It sports a very stylish design, has a lot of power-saving options right at your fingertips, and has one of the best displays in this price range–We highly recommend this one if you’re looking for an upper mid-range gaming laptop with a focus on performance, portability, and battery life.

3. Asus ROG Strix G18

Display Size: 18” | Panel Type: IPS | Screen Resolution: QHD+ (2560 x 1600) | CPU: Intel Core i9-13980HX | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 | RAM: 32 GB DDR5 | Storage: 2 TB SSD | Weight: 6.6 lbs / 3 kg

Asus ROG Strix G18

REASONS TO BUY

  • Surprisingly long battery life
  • Top-of-the-line performance for gaming and content creation
  • Large and vibrant display
  • High-quality build
  • Premium gaming aesthetic
  • Loads of RGB
  • Responsive, satisfying typing experience
  • Loud, rich-sounding speakers
  • Effective cooling

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Loud fans
  • Heavy
  • Premium price tag
  • 720p webcam (really?)

Our Rating:   9.3/10

Our next recommendation is the new Strix G18 from Asus, one of the very few 18” gaming laptops available on the market today. Being an Asus offering, it offers exceptional gaming performance coupled with a beautiful display and, a bit surprisingly, long battery life. But it’s extremely expensive, and some features just don’t match the premium price tag.

Let’s start with battery life. The USB Type-C charging 90Wh battery in this monster performs surprisingly well, but its potential battery life will be solely dictated by your power management. It’s also important to view this in the context of the most power-hungry and highest-quality consumer technology available sitting on your desk.

Utilizing the PCMark 10 battery test, we saw an average battery life of about 5.5 hours. This test simulates the average workload of gaming by stressing the laptop up to 100%. But, given the variables of your unique case (considering the power-saving settings, brightness, etc.), you could see wildly different results.

For example, auto power-saving mode is enabled by default, which turns off GPU graphics and lowers brightness when unplugged, and re-enables when plugged in, with multiple software tweaks available to improve battery life and health.

With features like this and more, the battery management of the ROG Strix G18 is extremely nice, giving you more control than ever for this power-hungry machine. With many of the power-saving options turned on (GPU still active), a simple video playback test showed up to 7 hours of battery life.

With all power-saving features on, backlighting off, and 0% brightness, you can stretch the battery life all the way up to nearly 10 hours, which is remarkable for a laptop this powerful.

Speaking of which, the laptop is an absolute powerhouse with a top-of-the-line, current-generation hardware. It comes packed with an RTX 4090 graphics card, which ties the MSI Titan GT 77 as the most powerful GPU on our recommendation list, a 24-core Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, and 32GB of the new and much faster DDR5 RAM.

With so much power under the hood, the gaming performance is just phenomenal, allowing you to play the most demanding AAA titles on the highest settings and take full advantage of its beautiful screen. In comparison, with DLSS3 turned on, it can run up to nearly 50% faster than the prior year’s model.

Now, the display is just as impressive as the performance, being one of the most premium IPS panels available today. It’s a breath-taking 18” QHD+ screen with 500 nits of brightness and a 240hz refresh rate for buttery-smooth gaming.

Plus, it’s extremely color-accurate with 100% coverage of both sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, making it suitable for professional content creation and color-critical work. Anything you do on this laptop, be it gaming, video editing, or simply watching movies, looks absolutely stunning and extra immersive thanks to the bigger screen.

Now let’s cover some of the drawbacks, which are a big letdown for the price you’re paying. While the speakers are very good, producing loud and rich audio, the webcam is disappointing at 720p–It’s not a typical grainy and blurry 720p webcam seen on cheap laptops, but it is miles behind its Razer competitor, the Blade 18.

We would also like to point out that the Strix G18 runs very loud, but this is necessary to properly cool the laptop with its significant power output. Fortunately, the laptop does not overheat.

In conclusion, the Asus ROG Strix G18 could be a good option for deep-pocketed individuals looking for a desktop replacement in the form of an 18-inch powerhouse gaming laptop with a long battery life. However, there are better value options available for most gaming needs, and the hefty price tag will likely be a deterrent to most prospective buyers.

4. Gigabyte AORUS 17H

Display Size: 17.3” | Panel Type: IPS | Screen Resolution: FullHD (1920 x 1080) | CPU: Intel Core i7-13700H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 | RAM: 16 GB DDR5 | Storage: 1 TB SSD | Weight: 6 lbs / 2.7 kg

Gigabyte AORUS 17H

REASONS TO BUY

  • Great value for the money
  • Massive 99Wh battery
  • Exceptional battery life
  • Powerful hardware for gaming and professional work
  • Effective cooling system
  • Buttery-smooth 360hz display
  • Great port selection
  • Upgradeable memory
  • Per-key RGB backlighting

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Mostly a plastic build
  • 1080p resolution
  • Middling speakers

Our Rating:   9.5/10

Gigabyte is known for making excellent hardware, such as motherboards or GPUs, but their gaming laptops haven’t seen as much success as they deserve. They’re hoping to change that with the Aorus 17H, a premium gaming laptop with a 360hz display and an exceptionally long battery life.

With a large 99 Wh battery and amazing power management central software, the Gigabyte AORUS 17H pulls in performance and battery life together. If you are looking for an easy-to-manage and long-lasting laptop considering the components equipped, look no further.

Our favorite feature of this laptop is already related to its battery life and power management. With very intuitive software, you get full control of the fans, energy usage, and multiple energy modes with pre-set configs tailored to your current needs.

Using this software, you can decide to ramp up or slow down, and you can easily see up to 8 hours of usage with moderate energy-saving options enabled. Considering the components within, this is very nice.

However, with most energy-saving setting off and pushing to the max, you might see more around 5.5 hours. Having higher-end components, this is still above expectations. Maximum recorded battery life was 8 hours and 11 minutes–Again, quite impressive for a 17” powerhouse.

When it comes to performance, this laptop strikes a nice balance between providing enough power to fully utilize the 360hz screen and not going overboard on the price. It packs an Intel Core i7-13700H processor, Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics card, and 16GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 4800 MHz.

This mix makes for some of the best gaming you can find at a high refresh rate and smooth workflows when multitasking or rendering video for content creation.

Where the AORUS 17H lags a bit behind the competition is in its display, as it maxes out at 1080p. While this can still look crisp with any modern game, we would have liked to have seen at least 1440p, as the PPI gets to a very average 127 on the included 17.3” screen.

While it might be lacking a bit in picture quality, the Aorus 17H turns the tables somewhat with its 360 Hz refresh rate, which is it the fastest of any laptop on our recommendation list, and beats the AORUS 17X, which only has 240 Hz.

This is mainly beneficial for FPS players, especially those into games like Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Fortnite, or Valorant, where a high refresh rate display can give you a competitive edge over your opponents. Color accuracy is also solid for a non-creator laptop, with 100% sRGB coverage.

In terms of other features, the keyboard is nice and responsive for gaming and does feature per-key RGB backlighting, which you can customize with various lighting effects. On the flip side, both the webcam and speakers are very modest, with a substandard 720p webcam and average 2-watt speakers.

In conclusion, this is another solid upper mid-range gaming laptop that packs a punch and has a very nice battery life, especially considering the boost you get with the intuitive energy conservation software. The CPU/GPU combo is nice but held back just enough to keep the price reasonable and the value high. If you’re a competitive gamer looking for a 17” gaming laptop with a long battery life, this is an excellent option.

5. Razer Blade 16

Display Size: 16” | Panel Type: MiniLED | Screen Resolution: 4K UHD+ (3840 x 2400) & FullHD+ (1920 x 1200) | CPU: Intel Core i9-13950HX | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 | RAM: 32 GB DDR5 | Storage: 1 TB SSD | Weight: 5.4 lbs / 2.4 kg

Razer Blade 16

REASONS TO BUY

  • Impeccable build quality
  • Long battery life
  • Top-notch performance
  • Gorgeous Mini LED display
  • Dual mode display feature
  • Premium design
  • Excellent audio quality
  • Top-of-the-line webcam
  • Comfortable and responsive keyboard
  • Great connectivity

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Premium price
  • Gets loud under load

Our Rating:   9.8/10

The latest Blade 16 is the best laptop we’ve seen from Razer so far and one of the absolute best gaming laptops available in 2023. It checks almost all the boxes with top-of-the-line performance, impeccable build quality, luxurious design, and a gorgeous display.

On top of that, this flagship laptop comes with a 95.2 Wh battery which is a sizeable improvement over the previous models’ 80Wh unit and surprisingly effective given the power within. One of the most surprising features of this machine is the battery life and power management.

The battery life on this beast averages just over 5 hours when running at full potential and up to 7.5 hours with most energy-saving options on and only watching video. Again, this is a step up from the 18-inch model and previous years’ model, if only slightly.

What it comes down to is personal preferences and use cases. Since there are so many GPU options to choose from, energy savings options, and resolution and framerate options, your personal battery life could differ wildly from what the averages are.

The built-in Razer Synapse software will help govern your battery life by not only providing you with many options, but also being able to automatically apply them when you unplug the laptop. You can easily control your resolution, framerate cap, CPU and GPU overclocks, fan speed curves, and more.

Moving on, this laptop not only looks fantastic, but it is also one of the sturdiest gaming laptops you will find on the market today. The Blade 16’s anodized aluminum unibody protects the laptop from the rigors of everyday use and accidental drops onto a hard surface, making it an excellent choice for those who will be gaming on the go.

One of our favorite features of the Blade 16 is its Mini LED display. It is an extremely rich and vibrant screen with up to 500 nits of brightness, which is 200 nits more than its Alienware competitor, the X16. Plus, it’s exceptionally color-accurate, with 100% coverage of the sRGB, 100% of the DCI-P3, and 91% of the Adobe RGB color gamuts.

Where this display truly shines, though, is in the dual mode options, allowing you to choose from either a 120hz at 4K or 240hz in FullHD. This feature makes it a go-to option for folks looking for a laptop that can support both high-end gaming and high-end content creation without any compromises.

Performance-wise, we really enjoyed this spec with an RTX 4070 graphics card, i9-13950HX processor, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. It keeps the price down compared to the RTX 4080 and 4090 models while still offering high-end performance for both gaming and production apps.

As far as inputs and features, Razer puts effort into making sure everything is top-notch. The keyboard is nice and solid with good responsiveness for gaming, while both the webcam and speakers are one of the best you will find on a gaming laptop today–This is a premium laptop from top to bottom.

In terms of drawbacks, we have nothing major to say about this laptop, aside from its astronomical price, which will discourage many potential buyers. It does get quite loud under load, but so does every other high-performing laptop. One thing that’s slightly annoying is that in order to switch between the resolutions, you have to restart the laptop each time you want to do it.

All things considered, the Razer Blade 16 is by far our number one recommendation if you’re looking for a truly premium gaming laptop. Aside from the improved battery life, it offers the full package–High-end performance, a beautiful Mini LED display with a dual mode feature, and a premium and sturdy design.

Plus, Razer is also easier to deal with than some other brands when it comes to warranties and software support, so you are getting your value in more ways than one.

6. Alienware X16

Display Size: 16” | Panel Type: IPS | Screen Resolution: QHD+ (2560 x 1600) | CPU: Intel Core i9-13900HK | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 | RAM: 32 GB DDR5 | Storage: 1 TB SSD | Weight: 6 lbs / 2.7 kg

Alienware X16

REASONS TO BUY

  • Exceptional battery life relative to the performance
  • Premium, high-quality build
  • Unique aesthetics
  • Top gaming performance
  • Enough power for content creation and professional use
  • Colorful, crisp, and smooth display
  • Great mechanical keyboard
  • Plenty of RGB
  • Excellent port selection
  • Rich audio

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Heavy for a 16” laptop
  • Noisy fans
  • Premium price
  • Lower brightness

Our Rating:   9.6/10

Alienware laptops are known for having a poor battery life, but that’s about to change thanks to their latest X16 model, which features a very solid battery life, putting itself among the longest-lasting gaming laptops in 2023.

Plus, it’s one of the most premium and feature-complete laptops available that is on a similar footing to the Razer Blade 16 and in direct competition for a comparable price.

In addition to its performance, the X16 also offers some key cosmetic features, such as all the ports being on the back, a unique aesthetic that doesn’t get too flashy, and a stellar RGB trackpad and mechanical keyboard.

Now, the battery life right out of the box is great with the included 90Wh battery unit, but will directly depend on how you are using the laptop. If you plan to play games on the highest possible settings, most of the time you are using it, the battery life will last about 3-4 hours.

For a standard laptop, this would be considered poor performance; however, when considering the power-hungry RTX 4080 GPU, 13th-Gen Intel i9 CPU, and generally top-of-the-line specs, 3-4 hours of high-quality gaming is considered quite impressive.

Also, simply turning down the graphics and brightness in your favorite game will also add exponential battery life the more that gets toned down. If you were just browsing the web and watching your favorite content creator, for example, you can expect to see 7+ hours out of the X16. Most gaming laptops are good for around half of that.

To further help you increase and manage your battery life, Dell has many options in the BIOS, such as preventing the battery from overcharging and killing it early, as well as the standard power-saving mode for the display.

Now, this laptop offers excellent gaming performance at the price point, as well as a stunning display–It’s a 16” QHD+ resolution IPS panel with an impressive 240hz refresh rate and over 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. This leads to a crisp, color-accurate, and buttery-smooth gaming experience with potential for professional use as well.

What keeps this display from being top-of-the-line, however, is the low brightness, measured at a very average 300 nits. To make up for that, the screen is treated with an anti-reflective coating, but we still can’t recommend this laptop for use outside or in brightly lit environments.

On the bright side, the X16 is also one of the best-sounding gaming laptops we have tested so far, with a crisp sound quality and impressive volume range. The webcam is another improvement over the previous models, now featuring 1080p resolution, Windows Hello support, and much better image quality.

Another feature you’ll appreciate is the positioning of the I/O ports–a mini SD slot, and all its ports were moved to the back of the laptop. Having all of the laptop slots/ports located in the back can help consolidate space taken up by cords when using multiple external devices with the laptop.

In addition, we like how Alienware brought back the RGB-lit touchpad, as it was a standout feature of previous models but had been missing from recent Alienware releases until the X16. Plus, the mechanical keyboard is just as good, with a highly responsive, tactile, and overall satisfying typing experience.

The two most notable drawbacks, besides what we already mentioned, are weight and noise. It’s quite heavy for a 16” laptop at 6 pounds (2.7 kilos), which will make traveling with it a major headache. Plus, the fans get to 100% RPM as soon as you start gaming and produce a noticeable amount of noise.

Overall, this is an absolute powerhouse of a unit with substantial battery life, considering the parts included within. While it is on the expensive side, and the display is not quite top-of-the-line, it’s still a solid option for gamers looking for a high-end laptop with premium aesthetics and long battery life.

7. MSI Titan GT 77

Display Size: 17.3” | Panel Type: Mini LED | Screen Resolution: UHD (3840 x 2160) | CPU: Intel Core i9-13980HX | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 | RAM: 128 GB DDR5 | Storage: 4 TB SSD | Weight: 7.3 lbs / 3.3 kg

MSI Titan GT 77

REASONS TO BUY

  • Sturdy build quality
  • Massive 99.9Wh battery unit
  • Surprisingly long battery life, given the hardware
  • Worthy desktop replacement
  • Top-of-the-line performance
  • Gorgeous 4K Mini LED display
  • Massive RAM and storage options
  • Exceptional mechanical keyboard
  • Plenty of customizable RGB
  • Effective cooling system

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Very loud under heavy use
  • Astronomical price
  • 720p webcam
  • Heavy

Our Rating:   9.6/10

Next up, we have MSI’s flagship gaming laptop, the Titan GT 77. This laptop offers some very unique features, including a mechanical CherryMX keyboard, or 128GB of RAM, as well as the beefiest hardware possible, a stunning Mini LED display, and a surprisingly long battery life. But as you probably guessed, the price tag is very unique as well.

The MSI Titan’s 99.9Wh battery is as big as possible, yet the energy needs are extreme when running at full steam with what is considered the highest level of consumer-grade builds. That being said, you get some of the best hardware available, which will handle anything you throw at it from a gaming or professional standpoint.

Without any specific energy conservation settings or tweaks, just running stock out of the box, we see around or under 4 hours of life with reasonable stress. This is fairly short in general, but again considering its power needs, this is quite impressive.

After turning on significant power-saving options, such as framerate caps, power caps, lowered brightness, etc., you can squeeze another 45 minutes out of it, although you can squeeze much more out of it if you’re only doing simple tasks like enjoying your favorite content or writing papers on a cloud. The maximum recorded battery life for this laptop is 6 hours and 52 minutes.

In terms of hardware, MSI went all-in on this one–The components included are by far the best you can get in a gaming laptop today. With an Intel Core i9-13980HX, Nvidia RTX 4090, and 128GB of DDR5 RAM, this laptop will make short work of any game or video editing project. Plus, you also get a massive 4TB of NVMe storage for good measure.

With that being said, if gaming is the main reason you want a new laptop, there will be far more economical and efficient options for you than this MSI Titan. However, it is a top choice for performance if you can pay top dollar and/or need a laptop with very high-performance metrics in every category.

The display is also top-of-the-line, with a 17.3” Mini LED panel featuring a 4K UHD resolution, rendering extremely realistic graphics at 144 Hz. It checks out every box, providing an exceptionally vibrant, crisp, and immersive visual experience, coupled with excellent brightness (600 nits) and maximum color accuracy.

What we consider a major downside is the 720p webcam. Let’s be real; this is a premium laptop that currently goes for over $5k at maximum specs in most places.

To not include a 1080p webcam is downright insulting as anyone who will use this for meetings will likely then need to purchase an external one for maximum quality communication on the go. At this price range, why they are trying to shave a few bucks off the price of the webcam is baffling.

Additionally, the laptop also gets extremely loud during gaming or heavy use to the point where you need to wear headphones so as not to get constantly distracted.

On the brighter side, we like the aesthetics of the laptop with the RGB lighting bar on the back of the laptop, as well as the per-key RGB on the fantastic CherryMX mechanical keyboard. The speakers are also excellent, with a 2-speaker, 2-woofer configuration, providing full-bodied and rich audio.

All things considered, the MSI Titan GT 77 is more of a flex than anything else. Everything, including the performance, display, battery, and even keyboard, is top-of-the-line, but the price is a really hard pill to swallow. If you’re looking for the best of the best and have the use and budget for it, then this is it. If this does not describe your laptop needs, then better value can be easily found elsewhere.

Our Rating:   9.5/10

The Acer Predator Helios 16 is, just like last year’s model, a mid-range gaming laptop that delivers some impressive features for an affordable price. This year, we have seen some noticeable improvements, including the battery life, and some features lacking.

The battery life, while very dependent on your use case, is also mid-range in comparison to its direct competition, but when considering the raw power behind this laptop, it is still very desirable.

What we mean by use case is that out of the box, a straining session will likely net you 4+ hours of gameplay at maximum settings. The issue is that, unlike many other laptops on this list, the power-saving features are lacking in comparison.

If you are savvy in your power management, you can manually cap your monitor’s refresh rate, lower your brightness, lower some graphics settings, and underclock your GPU to see a massive battery life boost of up to 6+ hours.

However, most of these power-saving options are not presented in intuitive software and require your own knowledge to tweak them, while many other laptops host a central location with all of these features available in one place.

On the bright side, the laptop comes equipped with Nvidia Advanced Optimus–This feature automatically disables the GPU for simple tasks like web browsing or office work in order to save battery, only using the integrated graphics chip.

When considering the i7-13700HX CPU, a beast of a CPU in the newest generation sporting 8 performance cores and 8 dual-thread efficiency cores, it is no surprise to sit between the 4-6 hour life range, as your performance is top-notch and power hungry.

We do see an RTX 4060 included, which should assist in running your games on the highest settings and FPS. The only downside to this is when we compare it to the Asus TUF F15 laptop on this list, where you get an RTX 4070 and an i7-12700H, a last-gen CPU with a better GPU at a cheaper price.

When it comes to display, Acer offers either a standard IPS or the more premium Mini LED option. Here we have the IPS display, which will be the better option of the two from both money and battery saving perspective.

This IPS display is still impressive, with QHD+ resolution, 500 nits of brightness, 240hz refresh rate, and a surprising 97% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut–It’s sharp, colorful, and perfectly smooth for gaming. Plus, the high color accuracy makes it suitable for content creation.

What we really have to point out about this laptop is the cooling system. Despite its high-performing hardware, the laptop stays nice and cool, even under heavy use. It’s also whisper quiet for everyday use and doesn’t get annoyingly noisy during gaming or more demanding tasks.

Additionally, we are also impressed by the Helios 16’s per-key RGB keyboard, which utilizes mini LED backlights that are brighter, need less power, and produce less of a halo effect than non-mini LED lights. The new PredatorSense utility app can be used to personalize the per-key RGB and all other settings of the laptop.

Another feature that you’ll appreciate is the included 1080p webcam with support for Windows Hello. It’s not on the same level as the Blade 16, but the image quality is solid and adequate for online meetings or some casual streaming. On the other hand, the included 2-watt speakers are horrible, with non-existent bass and low volume.

In the end, the Acer Predator Helios 16 is a good value option for a mid-range gaming laptop in terms of both battery life and performance. While the Helios 16 is a step below models such as the Razer Blade 16 and Alienware X16, this is also reflected in the laptop’s price.

Still, the Asus TUF F15 remains our better budget option, with a cheaper price and much longer battery life, but the Helios is still a solid option at its price point comparatively.
