Our Rating 9.8/10

One of the main choices when buying a new PC case is whether you want a case designed for excellent airflow or one designed to be silent. Phanteks decided to eliminate that choice with the Eclipse P600S.

The P600S eliminates the windowed side in lieu of new soundproofing panels with a high-airflow fabric to give you the best of both worlds.

It’s also one of the most durable and well-built cases we’ve come across this year; make sure you get the model without the glass side panel if durability is a priority for you.

Speaking of which, the entire case and all its interior brackets are made entirely of steel. We searched everywhere, but the only plastic we found were the dust filters and some sliding panels that are purely for aesthetics.

This is an incredibly solid build, and as we mentioned earlier, removing the side window for a closed-case look further increases its build quality and durability.

Although the case isn’t exactly tool-free, the side panels have no screws and are, in fact, hinged at the back. You simply pull from the bottom, and the panel swings open, allowing you to start building or perform necessary maintenance.

The foam around the edges of the panel is what helps reduce the noise coming from the tower; though this foam is firmly fixed in place, you should still be careful not the damage it with a screwdriver.

Furthermore, the P600S has plenty of space and allows perfect airflow out of the box with its airflow mesh, two 140mm intake fans, and one 140mm exhaust fan. It also has enough space to support a massive liquid cooling system, with space for up to two 360mm radiators (one at the top and one at the front).

Cable management is a breeze, with ample room and plenty of velcro ties behind the motherboard tray to hide all those pesky wires. The front panel has the usual headphones and microphone jacks and three USB 3.0 ports, two of which are USB type-A and one USB type-C.

Whenever we hear about a mid-tower case, we automatically assume limited storage space. In general, that is not true, and in the case of the P600S, even more so. With support for three SSDs and up to ten HDDs, this case has more storage support than the vast majority of mid-tower cases.

Let’s cut to the chase, the Phanteks P600S is definitely a favorite here. Durable, sleek, and silent. Built incredibly well and delivering on its promise of the best silent cooling performance, this is not one to pass up. Sure, it’s a closed case with no RGB or extra features, but the quality and functionality you get at the price point are unmatched.

2. Cooler Master HAF XB EVO

Form factor: Mini-tower | Motherboard Support: ATX, Micro-ATX, mini-ITX | Dimensions: 442 x 330 x 423 mm | Weight: 18.1 lb / 8.2 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 240 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (2), HD Audio (1)

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO

REASONS TO BUY

  • Extremely well-built and durable
  • Removable side panels and motherboard tray
  • Excellent airflow
  • Highly versatile
  • Great support for storage and cooling
  • Supports radiators of up to 240 mm
  • Spacious and easy to build in
  • Good cable management

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Heavy due to the steel construction
  • Could use a few more USB ports
  • The look isn’t for everyone

Our Rating 9.7/10

Cooler Master has created something truly unique with HAF XB EVO. It’s something of a hybrid between a tower, a LAN box, and a test bench. It can even be used as a home cinema box.

One thing is for sure, this case cannot be categorized in any traditional sense, but since we are focusing on durability, you expect great things from this one. You can’t claim to be a LAN box and a test bench and not be able to take a pounding.

The HAF XB EVO has a distinct feel right out of the box. It looks and feels sturdy and well-built, and Cooler Master has incorporated that sturdiness into the overall design with rigged, angular edges giving off a vibe of being pulled out of a forge. In addition, the removable side panels have very sturdy handles and large ventilation areas for increased airflow.

Materials-wise, this case is all quality and durable thick steel, aside from the front panel. That does make it heavy but also as durable as a bag of bricks. Nothing can dent this beauty.

Cooling performance isn’t the best out of the box, but it has the potential to be excellent with a bit of tweaking. It comes with two 120mm fans behind the front mesh but has enough space to fit two 140mm fans if you want to upgrade. You can also mount a large 200mm fan on the top mesh for extra air circulation.

Otherwise, you can fit a 180mm tall CPU cooler. If you go the test bench route, you can discard the top mesh completely and a CPU cooler as tall as you like.

Regarding storage capability, the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO has a lot going for it. It supports up to four 2.5in/3.5in disk drives and also has two X-Dock bays in the front for quickly switching out hard drives.

The PSU is in its own alcove, exhausts the heat away from the case, and is also padded to aid with sound reduction. Even though it’s a relatively tight case, it can still support liquid cooling radiators on both the front and back panels, allowing for some pretty advanced cooling setups.

As always, the front I/O panel is straightforward: two USB 3.0 ports, headphones, and mic jacks, that’s it. Something as unique as this case could benefit a bit more with some extra USB ports. But don’t forget this case is pretty old, so seeing a USB Type-C would be a big surprise.

In conclusion, the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO is such an odd creation we can’t help but love it. It’s extremely sturdy, has good airflow, and it’s highly versatile. The price is a bit higher for a case this old, but if you’re looking for the most durable mini-tower case to take everywhere with you, this one takes the cake.

3. Fractal Design Define Mini C

Form factor: Mini-tower | Motherboard Support: Micro-ATX, mini-ITX | Dimensions: 210 x 399 x 399 mm | Weight: 15.2 lb / 6.9 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 280 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (2), USB 2.0 (2), HD Audio (1)

Fractal Design Define Mini C

REASONS TO BUY

  • Superior build quality
  • Compact and sturdy build
  • Spacious interior for a mini-tower case
  • Great noise isolation
  • Competitive pricing
  • Excellent support for cooling and storage
  • Clean, elegant design
  • Well-though out interior
  • Good cable management

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Big GPU will warm it up a little
  • Airflow is slightly limited with stock fans
  • No USB Type-C

Our Rating 9.7/10

The Fractal Design Define Mini C is another case that withstood the test of time. It is a mini-tower version of its bigger brother, the Define C, and besides the same sturdy build, it offers excellent airflow and a low-noise environment for micro-ATX and mini-ITX builds.

Fractal has always been a proponent of simple designs, which benefits both durability and airflow. This case won’t stand out from the crowd, but that’s ok–It’s meant to be quiet and blend into the background without drawing any attention.

The Define Mini C chassis is built entirely of steel with some plastic components scattered around, like the removable front cover. Upon removing the cover, you’ll see there is no optical drive, so the front of the case, which is usually the weakest point, is completely solid.

Build quality, in general, is very good. Internally, the whole case is built with 1mm thick steel and feels very durable, especially considering the price. It’s basically a steel cube designed to protect everything that’s inside. Simple and practical.

Airflow on the Define Mini C is balanced. Two 120mm fans, one in the front and one in the back, offer steady flow through the case. Besides that, the drive-bay-free design helps to keep the air unrestricted on the inside.

Additionally, the case can actually support a total of six fans or up to a 280mm liquid cooler radiator on the front if you wanna go liquid.

Where the Fractal Define Mini C shines is the noise. This case is absolutely silent. Thanks to its noise-dampening panels, hardly any sound escapes it, and the rubberized feet help eliminate any excess noise caused by vibrations when fans are at full speed. The dust filter locks into place as well, so no rattling occurs.

Extra features are slightly limited on the Define Mini C, but that doesn’t mean the case is lacking in any way–It’s clear to see the main focus was practicality, not flashy features.

Despite being a mini-tower case, it has literally everything you need for a high-end build–space for two large GPUs, support for extensive cooling systems (including liquid), and even plenty of space for cable management with a 3.5mm wide compartment behind the motherboard tray.

Although it doesn’t support optical drives, it greatly makes up for in storage capacity, providing space for two 2.5in/3.5in drives and three 2.5in drives. The front I/O panel is standard, offering headphones, mic jacks, and two USB 3.0 ports.

Fractal set out to design a case without wasting any space and succeeds with flying colors. The Define Mini C is well-built, durable, and, above all, silent. It actually makes us wonder why there aren’t more cases designed like this, functionality over flare, where everything just fits into place.

The only drawback to this case is slightly increased thermal output in some cases, but that’s expected with so little space. If you aren’t trying to push the maximum amount of juice from your build, then this case is for everyone.

4. Cougar DUST 2

Form factor: Mini-tower | Motherboard Support: mini-ITX | Dimensions: 175 x 299 x 403 mm | Weight: 13.2 lb / 6 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 280 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (1), USB Type-C (1), HD Audio (1)

Cougar DUST 2

REASONS TO BUY

  • High-quality, durable build
  • Aluminum exterior with premium finish
  • Convenient carry handles
  • Independent ventilation areas
  • Attractive aesthetics
  • Good airflow
  • Two 120mm fans pre-installed
  • Room for a 280mm radiator

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Limited space for high-end builds
  • Limited storage capacity
  • Tricky cable management
  • Not for novice builders

Our Rating 9.6/10

Look at the name, and you’ll realize where Cougar put all their focus when designing and building this case. The Cougar Dust 2 is a Mini-ITX case focusing more on portability and keeping everything dust-free.

Because portability plays such an essential role in this case, it’s safe to say durability is also very high. Of course, this case is for a niche group of people that prefer small form factor PCs, but they might be onto something. This case is definitely one to consider.

Right off the bat, the Dust 2 looks like it fell off an army supply truck going to a warzone. It has a heavily militarized aesthetic and is built entirely from steel.

The big clamps on either side of the case offer access to the dual bay design, and the front and rear panels are made with anodized aluminum with a sandblasted finish, which feels premium to the touch.

On top of that, the two built-in carry handles make it easy to take everywhere with you and further support Cougar’s purpose for this case as a kind of grab-and-go setup.

This case feels like it was actually built by the military; there really is no other way to describe its durability.

For all its durability and build quality pros, it’s still a Mini-ITX case that comes with its own share of difficulties, like space. But Cougar developed an interesting layout to combat this issue.

The whole case is separated into three parts, two on one side of the case and one on the other. The CPU and PSU share one side of the tower, but there is a partition between the two to limit heat transfer, and the other side contains the GPU.

The mesh side panels on either side provide solid airflow, and the case can also support a 280mm liquid cooling radiator on the top, should you go that route.

Now, this goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: careful consideration is needed when buying components for a Mini-ITX build. This particular case can only support GPUs up to 330mm. Don’t expect to fit an RTX 40 Series in this case, it won’t fit (we tried).

The sacrifices for this case don’t end there, as storage space is another one. It only supports two 2.5-inch SSDs and can support one 3.5 drive as well on the top panel if you don’t already have a radiator up there.

Lastly, the front I/O panel has two USB 3.0 ports, one type-A and one type-C, and a headphone jack, pretty basic stuff.

So how does the Cougar Dust 2 rank? Although bigger than most Mini-ITX builds, its unique design and materials offer superior durability, and the case makes it really easy to transport anywhere. Plus, the interior layout provides solid cooling capabilities despite the limited space and even offers liquid cooling in the form of a 280mm AIO cooler.

We highly recommend this one if durability, small form factor, and portability are your priorities

  • Poor sound isolation

Our Rating 9.5/10

Cougar is no stranger to PC builders, offering a great range of products like fans, cases, PSUs, and more. Today we are taking a look at one of their most durable full-tower cases, the Cougar Panzer Max.

It was designed with the overclocker and PC enthusiast in mind, doubling down on space, quality, and aesthetics.

The main focus, as always, is durability, and the Cougar Panzer Max is, as its middle name suggests, a tank. Its military style is more than just design; its solid steel frame and acrylic windowed side panel are sure to keep all internal components safe should an accident occur.

Plus, the grab handles, which are designed to support up to 35 kg, offer an added convenience every time you need to move it to your workstation for more overclocking tweaks. The case is pretty heavy, weighing in at around 12 kg (28 lbs).

However, the Cougar Panzer Max offers much more than just durability. As we said, it’s designed for the overclocker. That means it’s designed to hold the biggest cooling systems, including large custom loops.

If you plan on going the more standard route, it supports up to eight fans or four water-cooling radiators; you can safely install even the most advanced components without worrying about them overheating.

And if you wanna double down on airflow, one of the nice features of the Cougar Panzer Max is that the front panel drive bays can be removed, and you can fit up to three 140mm fans for the best possible airflow.

Another smart design choice by Cougar was the decision to not only have all cable management run behind the motherboard tray, which helps keep everything tidy and allows for better airflow but also have enough space there for four 2.5” and two 3.5”, making the storage capabilities of the Panzer Max simply immense.

Some other features of the case are standard, like 4 USB ports on the front, two of which are USB 3.0. It ships with a headphone hook on the tower, and the top is large enough to fit a full keyboard, thus liberating your desktop.

As far as drawbacks, the bulkiness is an obvious one, but what we really didn’t like is how much noise the case puts out when you push your system to the limit. It won’t be an issue if you game with a headset, but after testing the P600S from Phanteks, the noise does stand out in a negative way.

All in all, if you’re looking for a highly durable full-tower case, the Cougar Panzer Max should be at the top of the list. It’s very sturdy and spacious and has everything to support even the most extreme builds with custom liquid cooling setups. It’s on the pricier side, but for what you’re getting, it’s a pretty good deal.

6. Phanteks Evolv Shift XT

Form factor: Mini-tower | Motherboard Support: mini-ITX | Dimensions: 173 x 371 x 211 mm | Weight: 9.2 lb / 4.2 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 240 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (1), USB Type-C (1), HD Audio (1)

Phanteks Evolv Shift XT

REASONS TO BUY

  • Compact and lightweight
  • Fits big GPUs
  • Premium finish and aesthetics
  • High-quality materials
  • Three sizes depending on your build
  • Cool Infinity Mirror front panel
  • Well-thought-out interior

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Not fun to build
  • Feels delicate
  • Limited storage space
  • No front air intake = worse airflow

Our Rating 9.4/10

The Phanteks Evolv Shift XT is one of the company’s more interesting entries into the ITX market segment.

This case’s unique design hopes to solve various issues users have faced around build experience and compatibility with various components.

Building an ITX comes with its share of challenges which makes most favor functionality over compact size, but Phanteks managed to achieve a nice balance between the two in what feels like a very sturdy case.

The materials used to put this case together are truly premium. The interior frame is entirely steel, and the exterior is 2.5mm solid aluminum, giving it both durability and a beautiful futuristic look.

In addition to that, it boasts a tempered glass Digital-RGB Infinity Mirror and the sides are a mesh for maximum airflow.

However, it looks delicate. The Infinity Mirror is a beautiful feature, but it’s one accident away from being a piece of cracked glass. The main selling point of the Evolv Shift XT is its ability to extend into 3 sizes depending on your components and cooling setup.

With the top panel being easily adjustable to accommodate the size difference, the only thing holding the panel in place are a few screws. As we said, it’s not flimsy or cheap, quite the opposite, but we feel we can’t abuse it as much as other cases.

Beyond that point, its main feature is a very interesting one. It allows you to not worry about limiting your build capability because of size constraints. It also benefits Phanteks by making one adjustable ITX case rather than three different sizes.

That said, space is still very limited in this case, especially around the motherboard. You’ll have a hard time with cable management, among other things. The PSU plays a vital role in your space as well; if you choose a standard PSU for a mini-ITX build, you lose valuable space for an AIO cooler. Unless you buy an SFX PSU specifically.

On the other hand, GPU space is plentiful considering the space in this case, allowing you to fit a 324mm GPU and still have sufficient airflow.

Cooling needs a little planning before you start building. As we already mentioned, if you want to go the liquid cooling route, you’ll need to install an appropriate PSU to give you a little extra space, then you can install a 240mm radiator at the top of the case.

If you choose airflow instead, you can mount up to two 140mm fans. Storage capacity is a little disappointing but expected for a small form factor build, it has only one slot for a 2.5-inch drive, that’s it.

And finally, the front I/O panel offers two USB 3.0 ports, one type-A, and one type-C.

Phanteks Evolv Shift XT is aimed at a niche market. ITX builds can sometimes be incredibly hard to put together, and not everyone wants that hassle. The case is made of high-quality materials, but its unique design and features make us feel like extra care must be taken when handling it. If you want your build to stand out, you can consider this one. If you want something that can take a beating, move along.

7. Corsair Graphite Series 780T

Form factor: Full-tower | Motherboard Support: E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, mini-ITX, XL-ATX | Dimensions: 288 x 602 x 637 mm | Weight: 24.9 lb / 11.3 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 360 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (2), USB 2.0 (2), HD Audio (1)

Corsair Graphite Series 780T

REASONS TO BUY

  • Great airflow
  • High-quality construction
  • Side panel latches
  • Intriguing design
  • Tool-free moddability
  • Plenty of internal space
  • Superb storage support
  • Room for up to 9 fans or double 360mm rads

REASONS TO AVOID

  • No RGB
  • A little too plasticky
  • Pricey

Our Rating 9.2/10

If you’re shopping for a durable case, you should certainly visit Corsair and their Graphite Series, specifically, the Corsair Graphite Series 780T.

This is a stunning full-tower case that will satisfy hardcore gamers and overclockers alike thanks to its durable build and sleek and tool-free design, assuming it’s in your price range.

Like all Corsair products, the Graphite Series 780T build quality is remarkably high. The case is made mainly of steel and plastic, with a large windowed side panel so you can look inside and admire your hard work. Even though some parts of the case are plastic, it still feels very durable, and its design adds to that effect.

The chassis itself is neither curvy nor boxy. It’s something in between, with rounded, hexagonal planes and an angled edge on the front panel.

If weight is any indication of durability, then this one takes the cake; an impressive 11.3 kg (24.9 lbs) shows the quality that Corsair put into this, ensuring that your components are well protected from any accident.

Access to the inside of the case is easy, with the latched side panel making maintenance a breeze. Once inside, you may be surprised by the amount of space; the exterior of the case can be a little misleading due to its bulkiness, but there is plenty of space inside for the largest GPUs on the market, along with support for proper air and liquid cooling.

Out of the box, it comes loaded with two 140mm intake fans and a 140mm exhaust fan for a total of three pre-installed fans. There’s room for 9 fans total and even dual 360mm radiators for double AIO action.

Storage capability on the 780T is massive. Upon first look, we see six 3.5-inch and two 5.25-inch bays. But as if that weren’t enough, Corsair decided to add three additional snap-in 2.5-inch drive caddies on the underside of the motherboard tray.

And they really do clip right in, cementing the tool-free moldability they promised. That brings the total up to nine bays for hard drives and SSDs, which should keep even the most demanding content hoarders happy.

Everything else on the 780T is pretty standard; the front panel has four USB ports, two of which are USB 3.0, along with headphone and microphone jacks. It also has a three-step LED gauge that shows your fan speed which is a nice little feature.

So, where does the Corsair Graphite Series 780T stand in terms of durability and overall usefulness? It’s up to the buyer, really. It’s a very durable case but does have a lot of plastic inside, plastic which is used mainly for the tool-free feature of the case. This is by no means a cheap, flimsy case, but it was never meant for those looking for the most rigid case on the market. This is for those who want an eye-catching but not overwhelming case that makes maintenance easy.

8. CORSAIR Vengeance C70

Form factor: Mid-tower | Motherboard Support: ATX, Micro-ATX | Dimensions: 232 x 501 x 533 mm | Weight: 18.5 lb / 8.4 kg | Radiator Support: Up to 280 mm | I/O Ports: USB 3.0 (2), HD Audio (1)

CORSAIR Vengeance C70

REASONS TO BUY

  • Well-engineered inside and outside
  • Good build quality
  • Built-in carry handles
  • Tool-free drive bays
  • Plenty of space for cooling
  • Unique power and reset buttons

REASONS TO AVOID

  • Side window fan vents
  • Outdated model
  • Really big case
  • Weak aesthetics
  • Noisy

Our Rating 8.7/10

A PC case with some portability in mind, the Corsair Vengeance C70 aims to be a bridge between your standard mid-tower case and something easier to transport than most cases.

It tries to be subtle about it with its collapsable handles instead of the standard rigid ones and ensures safety with good materials, durability, and design choices.

What isn’t subtle at all is the military vibe you get when looking at this case; even if it were the best case ever, this look is not for everyone. But let’s see if it’s justified.

The Vengeance definitely feels cheaper than other products in Corsair’s line of products. Even though the case is built mainly of steel, there are various aspects that let us down. The two bottom dust filters have nothing keeping them in place, and they tend to slide out during transport.

In addition to that, the windowed side panel is odd to us, it allows for two fans to be mounted onto the plastic, but by doing so, you block the view of your build. It feels pointless–Either have a window or have a closed panel with the mesh grid for ventilation.

There are some benefits to this case, it is customizable. It can support two 120mm intake fans and one 120mm exhaust fan, and if that’s not enough, you can add more to the top and side of the case for extra airflow.

Storage capacity is also good, offering ten total drive bays, six 2.5/3.5-inch and four 5.25-inch, which can be removed completely to provide extra space for airflow or radiators

The Vengeance C70’s biggest gimmick is the military feel, which is hard to overlook. The front panel not only has two USB 3.0 ports and headphones and mic jacks, but it also features a cover on the reset button and a big red power button to make you feel like you’re launching a missile every time you reset or boot up.

To many, these are cool features to have on a case, but it’s a bit of an eye-sore.

The Vengeance C70 is an adequate case. It doesn’t rank that high in durability, but it could be better, too. It has good modability for those who like to play around with cooling techniques and doesn’t offer anything of real substance.

The price point is a little high for what you’re getting, you’re paying for the military gimmick, really. If that’s your thing, then great, go buy this. But if you want more value for your dollar, or aren’t an army fan, don’t even bother with this one.
